Looking for Cecilio MARTINEZ a colonel in the army of Spain, born in Barcelona or perhaps Asturias. He married Sophia DALAMU BARZAGA (b/ abt 1858, d. 1940) in Havana, Cuba. At one point, the family went back to Spain , I suppose he was stationed there.

I don't know if you are still monitoring this board, but if you are, I can help a little bit...

My maternal grandmother was Maria de la Concepcion Martinez-Dalmau. She had several siblings including the well known Bishop of Cienfuegos, Eduardo Martinez-Dalmau. I am supposing you are a descendant of one of her brothers?

Her father was Cecilio Martinez Seneriz Osorio. He was born in Arbon, Province of Orviedo, Asturias on January 18, 1853 and was the titular Conde de Osorio. He married Sofia Dalmau y Barzaga of Bayamo, Cuba.

I have other information I can share with you including the names of Cecilio's and Sofia's parents -- my mother has several pertinent, well-preserved documents from Spain. Post here if you're still looking.

Regards,

Mario Gutierrez

Dear Mario
My cousin, Enrique Martin, has Sofia Dalmau as an ancestor. He would like to know more about Sofia's ancestors. I only found that her father was Joaquin Dalmau. It would be very interesting if you knew Joaquín's birthplace. If he was born somewher in Catalonia I might help you all.
He doesn't understand English very well, but if you write or at least read Spanish, the best thing is that you write him to this mail: enrique dot martin arroba imamsa dot com
If you don't know Spanish you can write me to following mail: lluis dot caturla arroba telefonica dot net
Thanking you in advance
mi más cordial saludo
Lluís
