I am sure I can't ofer much information about your ancestors. However, during the 1850 period I have ancestors from San Miguel de Abona whose surnames were Delgado Cabrera. Interestingly, they used their fathers surnames, Delgado Garaboto. Theirs mothers name was Cabrera.

A. Juliana Delgado Cabrera maried Fernando Delgado.
B. JUAN A Delgado Cabrera married MARIA PAULA GARCIA
Siblings:
AGUSTIN Delgado GARCIA
MARIA JUANA Delgado GARCIA

Uruguay, Venezuela and Cuba were the countries where most of the Canarians emigrated during the XIX Century. I am sure that some of my ancestor's families (Delgado) are in these countries.
Enrique.

It is thrilling to know that I met a Delgado from South America interested in the ancestors. I hope they come from Tenerife and from the southern area of this island.

Definetely, you must find more information of Manuel Delgado Cabrera. The oral family hx is the first step and apparently was already obtained. There must be some documents like marriage, death, buy or selling a property or other documents where can indicate his parents and probably his birth place.

It will be almost imposible to get information in the Canary Islands if the specific Island and the specific municipality where Don Manuel was baptized or married is unknown.

Please keep in contact with me.

I have several Delgado families studies whose brothers and sisters are unknown and either theu stayed in San Miguel or emigrated toother countries. Puerto Rico was not firs choice or the best place for these emigrants.

Good luck
Enrique

Thanks for your quick response. I wonder if it would be wise to visit the Canary Islands to search for documentation first hand, and if so where do you advice me I should go first. Or would it be useless?? Unfortunately I am not sure I will get much more information about dates and places of birth from live relatives. thanks, Elizabeth

Enrique,

I am planning a trip to Lanzarote, Islas Canarias in Sept.; hoping to find out more about my ancestor, Juan Pedro Cabrera and his wife Maria Rodriguez de Bega.

Maria's parents were Domingo Rodriguez and Leonor de Bega, but Juan I know nothing. I think he was related to the Perez family.

My Cabreras were part of 16 families sent by King Felipe V.in 1731 to colonize a settlement in San Antonio, Tex.

What church can I look for records?

Alicia, I am sorry I have not been in Lanzarote. Next month I will visit this Island, for the first time. Its capital is Arrecife and has other cities like Bartolome. It is so important for your research to know the exact municipality where your Cabrera are from.

Most of my ancestors came from Tenerife, where was found a Cabrera family connected with my Delgado.

Best luck,
Enrique

I am a 14th generation desendant of Juan Curbelo who left
Lanzarote, Canary Islands in 1731 by decree of the King of Spain to establish San Antonio. His father was Domingo Curbelo b. in 1654
I know that Curbelo is a variant of Caraballo and about a hundred others.

Do you have any records of Domingo or his genealogy.

Juan Curbelo was b. in 1684 in Lanzarote
