Surnames: Garcia Suarez
My great-grandfather was born March, 1897 in Moya, Islas Canarias. His name was Angel Garcia Suarez. His parents were named Angel Garcia and Filomena Suarez.

My great-grandfather and his family left Spain and migrated around 1906..1907 to Cuba (Cifuentes, Santa Clara) and lived in Finca El Indio.

He had 5 brother, 3 sisters. Their names were Pedro Garcia, Francisco Garcia, Felipe Garcia, Luciano Garcia, Juana Garcia, Teresa Garcia and Angela Garcia.

My grandmother (Leonor Filomena Garcia, born in Cuba)has told me that her aunts/uncles stayed in Spain (brothers/sister of Angel Garcia and Filomena Suarez)

Anyone have more info...would like to know more of my past...

Hi,

I have a Felipe Garcia in my family. All I know of him is that he was married to Maria Hernandez and their daughter, Celina Garcia, who lived in Cuba, had my grandmother, Francisca Darias on August 2, 1894. I know that they are from the Islas Canarias but I don't have any information as to what city/town.

Thanks,

Marlen LaBianco

My great-grandfather had a brother names Felipe Garcia. That's a real common name. Where was your grandma born? Was she born in Cuba? If so what part?

I have not been able to find my grandmother's birth certificate. Family always said she was born in Union de Reyes, Cuba, but when I was there in 2004, the civil registry couldn't find her certificate and instead found one for a sister we never knew she had! I also heard that her family lived in Alacranes, Matanzas, Cuba so i'm hoping to get some relatives to check there for me.

I don't think it's the same Garcia family. My great-grandfathers brother Felipe went to live to Caibarien, his sister Maria Garcia did go to live to Matanzas and she was married to a Felipe (like her brother), but I don't know his last name. They said they would call him "maruco" or something like that.

I just thought of something your grandma was born in the 1890's....well the Felipe Garcia I am talking about was born in the same time, so they can't be related ( i think). The Felipe you are looking for had to of been born in the mid 1800's.

I don't know if this confused you more or helped. Let me know how your search goes.

Remember back then a lot of the woman would have their kids at home and then days..months later go inscribe them in the registry. You should also look at Church records. Maybe if they were baptisted then it will be there.

Hi,

I have a Felipe Garcia in my family. It's on my maternal grandmother who was Francisca Darias Garcia. She was the daughter of Celina Garcia who was the daughter of Felipe Garcia and Maria Hernandez. My grandmother lived and died in Union de Reyes, Matanzas, Cuba, but i've heard tht her family came from the Islas Canarias (from El Hierro). I'm not sure if this is the same Felipe you speak of because I imagine my Felipe would have to have been born at least by 1854.

Let me know if any of this matches your info.

Thanks,
