Have researched my Canary Island ancestors who arrived on La
Espana ship in 1731 in Mex. to colonize San Antonio de Bexar. I need to know about Juan Manuel Cabrera's parents
back in Lanzarote. He was born 1686 and died in Apa on the
way to San Antonio. Also his wife: Maria Rodriguez deBega who died near Cautitlan. They left three children: Jose,15
Ana, 13 and Marcos,6. Have written to church in Lanzarote,
but have not received answers. Any help would be appreciated.

Matthew,
Sorry, but have been away from this site for awhile. My family came from the island of Lanzarote along with your Juan Curbelo and his wife Gracia Perdomo y Umpierres. Joseph Cabrera was the son of Juan Pedro Cabrera, Joseph was 15 years old. I suspect that Juan was the brother of Gracia's mother, Maria Cabrera.
I visited 4 islands in the Canaries this past November '06 and was able to meet with the historian of Lanzarote and he made it possible for me to meet several Cabreras who might have a connection to my family. We were treated like "Hidalgo." It was awesome.
Please e-mail me at writer70743@yahoo.com and maybe we can help each other out more.

Hello Cousin!! Enjoyed reading your post as I learned more about the Cabreras. I am a descendant also...just learned of it. My grandmother is Sylveria Cabrera of Goliad, Texas. We are descendants of Marcos Cabrera. Please share what you learn on descendants in the Canary Islands. I also would like to do research in that area.

Dear Sonia,

It has been a year since I visited this site. Lucky I found your message. Yes, we are definitely cousins. Manuel Cabera and Siveria Ramos wer married on September 3rd, 1852. The witnesses were Trinidad de los Santos, Gnes Rene and Diorisio Moya and Margil Morales.
In fact that same day Trinidad de los Santos married Pabla Cabrera. The previous month, manuel Flores married Agustina Cabera. Busy year! Manuel, Augustina and Pabla were the daughters of Mariano Cabrera and Miquela Mancha.
Siveria and Manuel's children were: Romulo, Berah, Mariano.
I hope we can have a family reunion this year and update all our kin about our wonderful ancestry from the Carvajal and Cabrera lineage. We are descemded from Juan Pedro Cabrera and Maria Rodriguez de Bega. Their children: joseph, Ana and Marcos.
I have a yahoo address if you would like to write.

Would you happen to have any additional information on Manuel Flores and Augustina Cabrera? I believe they maybe the parents of my great-great grandmother, Casimira Flores Luna. She was born in Goliad, Texas in 1874. Thanks!

It is very possible Manuel Flores and Augustina Cabrera could be your ancestors. I know for certain that Augustina Cabera was the daughter of Mariano Cabrera and Miquela Mancha daug. of Nazario Mancha and Maria de Jesus Gomez from La Bahia.
I found a Lucas Cabrera married to Filomena de Luna, their children were; Lucas born 1920 in Charco, Tx. a Luis de Luna Cabrera born 1930 in Goliad, died 3-24-1973.
There were Flores families in Berclair, TX also. In 1810 census there is a Pedro Luna who had arrived from Saltillo, his wife was Serafina, of La Bahia.
If you search for the marriage certificate, the original handwritten one, it should have Manuel Flores parents names. The certificate I have does not have any parents names.
You can e-mail me if you like. writer70743@yahoo.com

Surnames: Cabrera, Arrocha, Morera, Fajardo
Dear Alice,
ALthough my ancestors didn't leave Lanzarote until the early 1900's, we have a surname in common. From the little I know, Lanzarote seemed to have a reduced population, so there is a possibility that we're related (way back when).
My grandfather was Laureano Arrocha Morera-born 1870 in Tias, Lanzarote. His parents were Josefa Morera Cabrera and Marcial Arrocha Fajardo. His grandparentswere Jose Arrocha and Maria Cabrera on his paternal side and Esteban Morera and Francisca Cabrera on his maternal side. I realize that the Fajardo surname was lost there somewhere, but the Cabrera surname appears twice.
I am trying to obtain more information about my ancestors in Lanzarote but have been unable to do so as there aren't any local genealogists that I have found. Is there anyone there that I could contract to work on this? Any help you can send would e appreciated. Many thanks.
