Busco uno de mis antepasados, Gonzalo Del Valle y Herrera. Él nació en las montañas de Burgos, Valle de Camargo, España. Sé que Camargo está cerca de Santander, Cantábria. Herrera está cerca de Camargo y es posible por lo menos la madre de Gonzalo es de allí. Si alguien me puede ayudar con información de Gonzalo o como puedo encontrar archivos de la iglesia en estos partes que corresponden al dato 1687, me lo adgradezco mucho.

I am looking for one of my ancestors, Gonzalo Del Valle y Herrera. He was born in the mountains of Burgos, Valle de Camargo, Spain. I know that Camargo es near Santander, Cantabria and Herrera is a town close to there as well, and it's possible that Gonzalo's mother is from there. If anyone can help me with information about Gonzalo or how I can find old church records for Camargo that correspond to 1687, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Brian Chudleigh

Sorry David, is your mother by any chance a Doctor. I remember when I was three. My mom brought me to her as I had a bad infection in one of my fingers and that was going to be amputated. Your mom (I think is the same person) told my mum to cure me with "Batamote" and take the prescribed medication as in the "Seguro Social" they were nearly amputating my poor little hand. Thanks to your mom, I can now type this mesage with all my fingers. I met your Granny as well, my granny used to bring me there in the evenings para tomar el cafecito.

I am now married and have 4 children and live in the Sacramento, CA area. I am 38 years old and have two siblings. I was born and raised in northern California but do know Spanish and love the music from the small towns of the Sonoran Sierra called "Orquestas". I don't go to Mexico as often as I'd like to because of my job and my childrens' education but I would like to go very soon.

How old are you? Where do you live? Your mom and my mom are first cousins (primas hermanas) which means that you and I are second cousins (primos segundos). I don't think we have ever met but it would be nice.

Hi,my name is David, mi mother is Mirna Molina Colsa, she is the daugther of Juanita Colsa, daugther of SERAFIN COLSA and Josefa Molina, My mother´s grandfather (serafin) lived in Batuc Sonora, Mexico, a small town that disapear and they migrate to Hermosillo, Sonora Mexico, Juanita Colsa (Serafin Daugther) had 8 decendents including my mother, they actually live in Hermosillo, Juarez and Mexico City, and her grandchildren are in several cities including El Paso, Texas, Monterrey Mexico, Phoenix Arizona, Hermosillo Mexico, Juarez Chihuahua and Madrid Spain. I don't believe they are online yet because of privacy issues (some of the persons counted might still be alive). I know that there are some censuses that have been published and available on genealogy website for a fee (such as www.apellidosdecantabria.com) who specialize in certain regions. I also know that the LDS is currently trying to digitize other countries census information but it is long and slow in coming. have you looked on PARES?
it's Spains version of the National Archives online. The website is www.pares.mcu.es. Good luck!

No se si conoces el portal de PARES, el cual es el sitio del Archivo Nacional de Espana en que se pueden hacer busquedas gratis. Espana esta intentando de poner todos sus datos en linea para que sea posible hacer consultas. La direcion es www.pares.mcu.es. Tambien le sugiero el sitio de www.apellidosdecantabria. Tambien se pueden hacer busquedas limitadas gratis en este sitio. Suerte!

Teresa, there is a problem with records from Santander during that period. During and after the civil war, Cantabria was an area of resistance to the fascist, and there were many violent events against the local governments and churches (record keepers). Many records from the nineteenth and early twentieth century were destroyed.
I know this because I have tried to find records of my own family, and have had partial successful.
If the family immigrated to Wales or the US, you should find some record there.
I have an address for the government archives in Santander. If I can find it I'll email you.

Don't be disheartened. There is still info there. Perhaps someone from that area will respond.

Otherwise, you'll have to travel there yourself. It is a wonderful area of Spain with lots to see and do and many nice people.

Looking for Mucha or De Mucha in Cantabria

Hello I'm Mauricio Olivares, i'm doing a genealogic research on my family, this quest led me all the way to ends of the 18th Century Budapest, my search is for the family by the name Mucha principaly Wolfgang Mucha who was a mathematician, engeneer and militar.
he was appointed Artillery Lieutenant and later Colonel... he moved to spain on 1790 to work on the Royal Factories of La Cavada and Lierganes where he came to be the director, this factories where the ones that made the artillery and weapons of the major wars between the Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgum, England and Spain at the beginings of the 19th century. in Spain he achived "Capitán de Fragata" and "Capitán de Navío" which are the two most important ranks for a navy officer in that country.

You see the relevance of these men, and i hope you are willing to coopereate with this investigation.

Dear MCG: Thanks for your encouragement. Don't think I'll ever be travelling to Spain, however. I'll have to wait and see if anyone living there can help. If you come up with the address I'd be grateful. Maybe one day more Spanish records will become available on-line..hope hope. The children did come to England after the parents died. I don't know who looked after them. Later they came to America. However their last name was Jones, and there were thousands of Joneses.

I'm looking for my great-grandmother's family.

Her name was Dorothea Portez.

Her children were born in Santander city, Spain.

She married William Robert Jones, a merchant sea captain from Bangor, Wales.

There were at least two children:
William Tregarth Jones born July 14, 1891.
A sister Dorothy Jones.

I would like to know about Dorothea Portez's family in Spain, her siblings, and parents, and where she was born.
Unfortunately, I don't speak or understand Spanish, but will try my best to understand any reply that I get.

I have tried joining the Yahoo group "Gencantabria" as you suggested, but the site appears to be in Spanish, and I had trouble understanding the registration. Alas, my membership was rejected! I don't know what I did wrong. Also, if the messages are in Spanish I will have a problem reading and understanding.

I'm searching for:

Dorothea Portez, born 1860-1870, probably in Santander.

William Tregarth Jones, born July 14, 1891, Santander.

Dorothy Jones, born 1886, Wales.

Possibly William Robert Jones, born Bangor, Wales, 1865.Merchant mariner.

The first three were in Spain in 1891.

Busco más información en el Arredondo Aguero familia en Cantabria, España. Esto es mi entendimiento de la familia fue concedido la tierra en Ruesga por el Conde de Haro. Cualquier información adicional como cuando la familia emigró a Ruesga de Sevilla sería apreciada. Cualquier historia de la familia en España sería enormemente apreciada.

No se si ha Usted tratado de hacer esta pregunta en los siguiente foros genealogicos que se encuentran en YAHOO Groups. Solo se tiene uno que registrar y no cuesta nada ser miembro de ellos. Por mi experiencia los miembros son muy amables y de grande ayuda en estos asuntos.

Dear Teresa,

A couple of suggestions for searches:
1. Try alternate spelling perhaps "Portes" since the "z" may have been interchanged with an "s". Do a search on Familysearch with this variant and see if anything comes up.

2. Strongly suggest joining the yahoo genealogy webgroup
Gencantabria. Go to yahoo.com click on the "groups" link to the left and enter "gencantabria in the search. Over 400 persons with genealogies from the area are members and someone there might have already done the same research.
This site accepts several languages so your lack of lanuguage proficiency should not be a problem.

3. Do a search on the genealogy website Geneanet.com. They have more european records and searches are free. Try both variants oof your ancestor's name.

eyy pues que gusto y si eres mi familiar?? yo se que originalmente el apellido se escribe como el tuyo Yllades... el mio es Illades por alguna cuestion que hubo ahi que padre encontrar mas familia espero estar en contacto.

Pues tengo nueva información acerca de la familia. Mi abuelo Marcos Yllades y su hermano Juan Francisco Yllades vinieron de España (Santander) y se establecieron en Guanajuato. Tengo más información sobre el abuelo Marcos y su familia por un testamento que hay en el archivo histórico y del que tengo copia. Están por darme unos papeles con datos de Juan Francisco. Yo soy hija de Eugenio Yllades, hijo de Marcos. Conocía a tu abuelo Manlio en un foro sobre jardinería y luego tuve contacto con tu papá, pero se perdió luego.
Pues qué gusto saber demás familia.

Yo vivo en Guanajuato y encontré el testamento de la abuela, esposa de Marcos Yllades que fue uno de los tres que llegaron de España.

Pues yo no se mucho de la historia pero mi padre dice que su visabuelo llego a Mexico de Espana y se llamaba Heladio Illades. Carlota, Miguel, Enrique.Tengo muchos familiares en la ciudad de Mexico que viven en la Colonia del Parque pero no soy sercano a ellos porque mi abuelo Eugenio Illades cuando se caso hace varias decadas, se movio de toda la familia a Cuautepec Barrio Alto en donde tengo pocos familiares Illades. Algunos abuelos mios fueron marineros.

Hola, yo me llamo Ricardo Illades tengo 19 y soy de la ciudad de mexico. Vivo en Texas y apenas encontre imformacion de ustedes.
