He was born in 1858 and married Apolinaria Belarde in 1875 in Las Vegas, NM. There seems to be no records of his mother and father or siblings. Procopius and Apolonia had 7 children.

Any information from anyone will be greatly appreciated.

Hello--I've done extensive research in the Basque Country of Spain and Torres is one of my "antipasados". Catalina Dorotea Torres-born 1801 in Azpilcueta, Spain; Joaquin Torres, born 1765 in Arizcun, and Martin Francisco Torres born 1736 in Arizcun as well. I've never run into the surname Nuncio, so it's probably not in the Basque area, but in another part of Spain. If I can help you in any way, feel free to contact me. I have a public tree for my Basque roots as well as my husband's American roots. It is called "Astiasuain-Maya/Purcell-Dobrinski"

Yes, Danny hired someone to do research for him. That person would be me. You can contact me by e-mail at
fybarra@earthlink.net if you'd like information about what was found.
I don't have the information in front of me at the moment because I am not in my office. I am writing from the Family History Library, but I believe that we found that
Simona was most likely an orphan who took the surname CAFRANGA. I believe we found a Simona who's birthday matched on the AHEB-BEHA records. (Just as lastrucha was trying to do for you, but found only the listing in 1773).
We found the orphan by doing a search for the given name and the date/place...without the surname.
I'm pretty sure there was a lot of information about the
Portuguese side GOMEZ, but I really don't remember it "off the top of my head." If you'll e-mail me then I'll be able to tell you more about that and we can talk about sending you copies if you like.
There are going to be many, many towns in that region.
The Basque Country consists of 4 provinces in Spain and
3 provinces in France. You may want to get yourself a map
of that area. Each province has hundreds, even thousands of little towns in it. You might want to visit a site like
Buber's Basque Page to get familiar with the Basque Country.

Hi Joe,
I guessed it was. Uncle Frank has the wedding certificate, and he's sending it down to me. As you may know I'm having a villa built in Portugal, and my Portuguese friend who is overseeing the project speaks excellent English) If Manuel Gomes da Silva was born in Porto (or Oporto = The Port) then we can seatch fro his birth certificate. I must be returning to my roots!
I'll send you some pics of the villa.

God Bless,

Cormac

My grandfather was Anastatio Gomez. His parents were Simona Cafranga who married Manuel Gomes da Silva in St. Peter's RC church Liverpool on 17th July 1882. At the time Simona was 33, and her father was Baptiste Cafranga. Manuel was 25 and his father was Joseph da Silva.
What is your connection to the family?
Regards

Cormac

Does anyone know how I would go about doing this and what the cost is? Thank you very much!
Bertie in Idaho

I am trying to trace my fathers side of the family. His mother was born in Bilbao in November 1898 her name was Amparo Echevarria or Echebarria and her fathers name was Ebaristo. My fathers father was born in Santander (Cantabria region) in 1892, his name was Florentino Alvarado and his fathers name was Marcelino Alvarado.

Amparo and Florentino left Spain, I think at different times, and met and married in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, UK in 1925.

I don't know who to contact in Spain to find out more information about their families.

Hello, and thank you so much for the information. As far as any other information in Cuba, I am sorry, but I do not have anything. My grandfather kept in touch with his parents and sisters in Cuba for quite some time, but I only found two pictures sent to him from his sister Catalina and a picture of his parents. I never did find any of their letters unfortunately.

I found Rufino Beascoechea Uriarte, who was baptized on Nov 16 1866 in Bermeo, at the La Asunción de Nuestra Señora parish. His parents were Prudencio Beascoechea Apraiz and Ventura Uriarte Segura.

I found a baptismal record for Justina Asteinza Anazagasti, dated Feb 15 1868, born to Pedro Asteinza Abio and Fernanda Anazagasti Goienechea. Same parish in Bermeo as Rufino. Please note that there are other Justinas (no Juastinas), but this one was by far the closest in age to Rufino.

I could not find marriage records for Rufino and Justina/Juastina, but this is not unusual.

I could not find Francisco or Catalina Beascoechea (I played with the spelling, by the way) in all of Vizcaya, but please note that if they were born after 1900, the files are not online. Your next step would be to contact the parish directly.

By the way, I am trying to find information on my ancestors who moved to Cuba. Do you have any suggestions?

Good luck!

Manuel Monasterio
Santa Fe, NM

I, too, am looking for Tellechea family.
My grandmother's last name was Tellechea. She passed away 6 years ago. Her father's name was Florencio Tellechea. That's as far back as I have gone. My mother tells me that her grandfather Florencio was apart of a family who was very famous for their acrobatic acts. Not sure if that information will be helpful. I'd love to find out more information about the Tellechea family.

E-mail a copy to me when you get it. I think Danny H. hired someone to search for records in Spain and Portugal, but I'm not sure if he came up with anything. Gomez is a common name, it might take a bit of searching to find the right person.
Joe
