Dolores was born in Cuba. Jose was born in Asturias Spain or Galicia Spain. They married and settled in Tampa Florida as part of the cigar making industry. Any information from Spain or Cuba would be helpful.

Trying to track down any information regarding ancestors beyond my grandparents. My grandfather was Manuel Lopez, born in Logrezana, Asturias, Spain 4/16/1899 and died 5/19/1994. He married my grandmother Benigna Gonzalez on 11/10/1917 in the same location. She was born in Pie de Loro, Asturias, Spain on 3/30/1899 and died in Palmerton, PA, USA 2/23/1963. My grandfather was orphaned at a young age but I do have his parents names: Frederico Lopez (c. 1874-5/21/1907) and Prudencia Lopez (c. 1876-5/9/1907), both from Asturias. Given my grandfather's common name, war, and the loss of his parents, I haven't had much luck finding further details. ANY added information regarding relatives in/from Spain would be GREATLY appreciated.

his father, don antonio coloma carriedo nacio en los 1800's en palencia, and his grandparents in valladolid and palencia.
His mother, dona aurora aguirre herreria was born in bilbao spain,and his grandparents in bilbao and santona, spain.

The document says:
D. Serafin C. Blanco, priest of Sta. Maria of Riveras, in the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Pravia, under the bishop and province of Oviedo. Certify: that en the book of baptisms which begins en the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty, on page One Hundred Twenty-Five, is found the record which states:
On the twenty-seventh day of April of One Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty-Five, I the authorized parish priest of Santa Maria of Riveras solemnly baptized a male child on this same day who's name is Jose Antonio the legitimate son of D. Antonio Tomargo and of Da. Delfina Menendez residents of this [town].
Paternal grandparents are D. Pedro [Tomargo] and Da. Manuela Sanchez natives of S. Pedro de Coalla (Grado - don't know what this indicates) Maternal [grandparents] D. Manuel Menendez and Da. Maria Arias of this [town].
The godparents were [the child's] maternal grandparents, to whom I advised the spiritual parentage and new parentage which they as godparents have taken upon themselves and in truth I sign on said day. Manuel Lopez Villabille (?)
This copy conforms with the original and to attest to this I sign and seal the present [copy] in the [parish of] Santa Maria de Riveras on the sixth of August, 1908.

I came across the potential treasure trove of geneological info in my great-grandfather's hand-written birth certificate from Oviedo, but I've been unable to decipher what most of it says. My great-abuelo's name was Jose Antonio Tamargo, and I already knew that his parents were Antonio Tamargo and Delfina Menendez. The certificate seems to list his grandparents and possibly places of residence, but between the ornate handwriting and formal language, I can't figure out who is who and where is where.

Have you tried to request civil registration records from Bilbao for your ancestor born 1884. They should have them. You need to write them, in Spanish, and give them all the information that you have. Full given name, names of parents, date of birth and that he was born in the city proper (if he was), if they can't find his records then he may have been born in one of the surrounding towns.

They went to England before coming to Philadelphia in 1911. Jose Garcia was born in Sama de Gangero, Asturias, Spain Sep 12 1885. His parents were Benino Garcia and Isadora or Sidora Diaz.
Joaquina M Diaz born Bilbao, Spain Jan 7 1884. Her parents were Jose Diaz and Teresa Solis or Solia. They were married Dec 10 1904 in Spain. That's all I know of the past except Jose had a sister Pilara went to Mexico, and I think a brother Juan?

You can print out the copy of his death certificate for FREE. It states that he was a cigar maker and died from exposure. States he was divorced. Says he was born in Spain and his Father's name was also Antonio Prieto. Says his Mother was born in Spain too but her maiden name is Unknown. He was born May 13, 1870 and died on Oct. 23, 1950 in the hospital in El Paso, TX and is buried at Evergreen Cemetary in El Paso, TX

My family name is Gil de Rubio my maternal grandfather. His mother 's family is Diaz Cruz. We are related to Pepe Diaz Cruz, if you have any information on either of these names please let me know. They may be from Asturias Spain or the Canary Islands. They eventually migrated to Naranjito, Puerto Rico where Pepe Diaz Cruz was awarded land for his bravery fighting the English in Puerto Rico. this was given to him by Queen Isabella the Second Catholic
Queen.

Have you done a census survey and located them in the 1900 - 1930 censuses? These census records will tell you the year in which they arrived in the US.

They also would need to be naturalized. Their naturalization papers should give you more information about their place of birth. Also, a death record might give you some information, however it will probably simply say, "Spain."

It's much better to put the towns: Candamo & Grado in the subject line - or
Areces from Candamo - or something more specific that folks can relate to.

Tengo un poco mas de informacion sobre los Gonzales Pato, perdona por haberte escrito en ingles en mi primer mensaje. Esto fue lo que encontre:
1910- Ciriaco Gonzalez Rivera esposa Manuela Pato y Gonzalez de Gonzalez hijo Rolando Gonzalez y Pato. Aqui aparecen que vivian en el Barrio Maraguez de Ponce, y aparece que vinieron de Espana, Don Ciriaco en el 1880, y Dona Manuela en 1885.

My uncle's father's name was Leandro Blanco Riego. My uncle, Santos Blanco-Garcia, was born in 1902 in Molino-Pillanno, Castrillon, Asturias, Spain. He came to the US through Cuba in 1920. My uncle's father left Spain, between 1930 and 1946, but there were two sons and a daughter still in Spain. They were Silvero, Laureano and Herminia Blanco-Garcia. I don't know if they are still alive, but my aunt and uncle visited family near Giron in the 1970's.

Thank you for posting. My great grandmother, Sabina Suarez-Sanchez, was born in Llerandi, a village of a couple hundred people in Asturias. Her mother died in childbirth and her father remarried soon after. While I do not have a Soledad listed in the family tree, I do not know if he had anymore children with his second wife or what their names were if he did. I also have no idea if her father had any siblings or what their names were.

The Lopez side of my family is from Southern Spain (Jerez).

I don't know if this is at all helpful.

I am seeking any relations of Claudio Diaz-Tarano and Sabina Suarez-Sanchez. She was from the town of Llerandi. They went to Cuba roughly around 1914 with cousins who later returned to Spain.

Claudio's parents were Ramon Diaz and Amalia Tarano, who died in childbirth. Their children were Claudio, Ramon, Manuel, Josefa, and Amalia.

Sabina's parents were Francisco Suarez and Angela Sanchez. She too died in childbirth, and their children were called Sabina, Josefa, Francisco, Jose, and Manuel.

I am searching for more information on my husband's g-grandfather. His name was Manuel Ovalla Martinez born October 11, 1880 in Gijon died July 7, 1961 in Tampa, Fl, USA. He immigrated from Cuba on March 5, 1904 on the Olivette. He was traveling with a sister, (the name is slightly illegible) I think her name was Lilia Martinez. I have tried obtaining a birth certificate from Spain, they said it was not found. On his death certificate his father's name is listed as Rosendo Martinez, and his mother's name simply as Ovalla. Anyone have any information on this family? Or can anyone tell me where I might be able to find more information? I already have copies of his naturalization papers, death certificate, ship records, census records (from the U.S.). I have also been unable to find records of how he got from Spain to Cuba. The ship records are from Cuba to the U.S. Does anyone know where those records would be or what route would have been taken at that time?

I am looking for any information on my family in Spain. My grandfather was Antonio Telena born 29 March 1889 I think in Cangas De Onise. From searching I think his father was named Ramon Telena and his mother was Carmen Sanchez. He had a brother Manuel Telena born on 13 May 1899 and died on 11 Aug 1963 in Stockton California USA. My Grandfather also died in Stockton on 17 April 1968. That's about all I know about them. I know there are stiil family cause I recently conacted a cousin in Cangas De onise named Alfredo Telena but I don't speak spanish so it's hard to communicate. So if anyone can help, please. One of the Torano members came to Utuado Puerto Rico, the name I have is Francisco Gervacio Torano Rojo, his father's name was Antonio Torano Garcia and his mother's Ignacia Rojo Sanchez, from Oviedo, Asturias. Francisco had a brother this name was Jacinto Torano the later was in the Spanish Army.

Miguel Gil de Rubio / Jefe
Josefa Diaz Cruz de Gil de Rubio /Esposa
6 kids: Miguel, Rafael, Josefa, Manuel, Virginia & Maria
In 1920 census: Josefa is Viuda, with 4 of the kids
In 1930 census, Josefa has only Manuel with her
