I'm in the process of researching Jhoan De Trujillo who susposedly born on 26 Jun 1551 in San Miguel, Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain. He was married to Anne Galban and had a son Francisco De Trujillo who was born on 4 Nov 1581 in Cuauhtemoc, Distrito Federal, New Spain. If anyone has a lead as to where I can find more detailed information about Jhoan, I'd appreciate an email at: pigibank@gmail.com

Thanks,
Ernie Trujillo

I think you may have some erroneous information. I am descended from the Yorbas and Avilas, both of whom intermarried with the Serranos, so I, too, have been researching Francisco Serrano along with other descendents.

One thing for certain is that Francisco Serrano is not listed among those in the Portola-Serra Expedition of 1769. Also you seem to think Francisco was born around 1700. The date we have is 1744. He does not appear in the census reports in California until the 1780s-1790s and in various areas, incl. San Diego and Los Angeles as a pobladoro and later as a private soldier.

What seems likely is that he was some relative of de Anza's wife Maria Perez Serrano and lived in Arizpe, Sonora, Mexico and consequently was a member of the de Anza Expedition to Monterrey in the 1770s, then made his way to Los Angeles.

Got a potential thread; There was one noble de Urrea family in Zaragoza between 1600 - 1750. Don Antonio de Urrea (born 1675 catalayud, child of Don Fernando de Urrea y Aragon and Dona Isabel Tomas Jayme) married Dona Josefa de Burgos (child of Don Pedro Francisco de Burgos and dona Ursula Alfay)in 1704 and got at least following children;

1. Josefa Isabel Manuela de Urrea b. 1715 (Zaragoza)
2. Manuela Josefa Ramona de Urrea b. 1719 (Zaragoza)
3. Francisca Ignacia Ramona de Urrea b. 1721 (Zaragoza)
4. Antonio de Urrea y Burgos b? (+ 1736). Married to Dona Rosa Mendieta (children; 1. Valero Montengon de Urrea, 2. Francisca Ignacia de Urrea, 3. Lamberto de Urrea)

If anyone knows more about this family it would be very intersting. In particular did Antonio and Josefa have more children and any linkage to conde de Aranda (Ximenez de Urrea)

In case someone is interested in this family I have quite a bit of more info.
How should on proceed to track the roots if I only have (i) the name; Joseph Galindo or Joseph de Urrea, (ii)date of birth May 15th 1720, and (iii) place Zaragoza (no detail where in Zaragoza though.

Is it a needle in a heystack to search for church records (the online one do not provide inforamtion). How should one proceed?

Further, there is an old family story that he escaped Spain, changed his name from Marquis Joseph de Urrea to Joseph Galindo d'Urrea. Suprisingly, he married a french huguenot (Marie Pirou) in London in 1750.

Nueva York.
