I am looking for Juan and/or Domingo Romero, two brothers. They must be around 50 years old now. In 1981 they worked at an English bar in Mallorca, but their family came from Cordoba - Andalusia. Juan used to have long hair at the time and said he was Jewish.
I anyone has any information on how to get in contact with one of them please let me know.

I'm working on the exact same thing. My ancestor was Antonio Villatoro, so I changed my name from the corrupted Viator back to Villatoro. I would like to know more about where Antonio came from in Spain. There is a town called Villatoro in Northern Spain, so he could have originally come from there? Have you found out anything from the archives?

Hello, I too have started tracing Antoine Villatoro. I have concluded that the father Antione had signed a contract for his family to come to Lousiana and my assumption is that he knew he was ill and could not make the trip because of the timeline of signing the contract and the actual time of departure which was about 6 months afterward. All of the note say..."His widow and children" I could be wrong, but that's what it seem. I can't get anything before that time. I am hoping for someone out there who knows!

He encontrado los registros de algunos de sus antepasados en Cornualles y Devon. La esposa de James Williams fue Mary Louisa HILL ("HILL" es pronunciado como "GIL"). Tienen que haber llegado en Tharsis antes de 1871 porque no se encuentran en el censo de 1871 en Inglaterra. Es posible solicitar certificados de nacimiento y matrimonio si los necesita.

No tengo más información acerca de James WILLIAMS otras a la fecha de su entierro. Tu debes decirme su edad y su lugar de nacimiento.

Esta información y también los nombres de sus padres y sus lugares de origen será registrada por el Juzgado de Paz de Alosno en el registro de los nacimientos en Tharsis de los hijos de James WILLIAMS.

Sólo si me dicen que esta información de registro del nacimiento se puede encontrar el mismo James Williams en Inglaterra, porque hay muchas personas que tienen el mismo nombre.

He buscado por el matrimonio de James WILLIAMS y Louise o Louisa STYLE pero no se encuentra en Inglaterra. Tal vez sucedió en un país diferente o el apellido es incorrecta.

Leanor y tu debe obtener más información del registro civil en España para encontrar antepasados en Inglaterra.

Me alegra saber que hay personas de mi familia intentando buscar nuestros antepasados y segun los datos de que dispongo pienso que Leonor es de mi familia. Mi abuelo paterno (Benito Fernandez Williams) tenia una hermana llamada Juana (sus hijos Juan y Pepe) que se fue junto a sus hermanas (Enma e Isabel) y la madre de ellas (Jane Williams) a Sevilla.
Se que Jane era una de las tres hijas (junto a Minnie y Emily), de Louise Style y de James Williams (enterrado en Tharsis el 7/8/1904).
No tengo mucha informacion pero la compartire con mucho gusto si es que coincide con los datos que tienes.

Encuentro el matrimonio de James WILLIAMS y Mary Louisa STILE el 14 de Julio 1864 en Stoke Damerel, Devon (matrimonios registrados en la parroquia eclesiástica de Stoke Damerel). Por lo tanto, el registro civil transcribió incorrectamente al índice el apellido STILE como HILL:

El apellido de SHESTILLE no existe en Inglaterra. En el Cementerio de los Ingleses en Tharsis es la tumba de James WILLIAMS qui murio en las minas de Tharsis en enero de 1904. En Inglaterra, el apellido WILLIAMS es muy prolífico, por consiguiente hay muchos registros de nacimiento de los niños llamado James WILLIAMS.

Soy de Sevilla y os quería contar mi relación con el pueblo de Tharsis.

Sólo sé algunas cosas que me cuenta mi padre, pero siempre nos quedamos con saber algo más de nuestra historia.

La abuela de mi padre, llegó desde Inglaterra a Tharsis con sus padres y hermanos.
Su nombre Jane, una de las hermanas Enma..
Tambien sabemos apellidos que mi padre siempre nos ha recordado. Wiliams y Shestille, no se si estan escritos correctamente.

Ellas se casaron en tharsis con españoles, de ahi mi abuela Juana la que despues de casarse se vino a Sevilla donde nacieron mi padre y mi tio y luego nosotros.

Nuestra intención es saber algo de esta familia, supongo que estaran enterrados en el cementerio de los ingleses, y mi pregunta: sabeis si se puede consultar algún listado? Seguro que mi padre podrá recordar mas datos que nos sean de utilidad.

My great grandfather was named Heriberto Llamas-Rodriquez from Puerto Rico. He was married to a Modesta Salas who died in 1909 in San Sebastian. He had many children of which my grandmother was one, he also had a son named Domingo Llamas y Salas, too. I have been trying since 2004 to locate more family but can't seem to find anything more than he was alive in 1910 in San Sebastian and was gone by 1920. I have no idea where he died and when. Believe me I have looked at all the records I could think of to find him. Domingo was very busy with many children from different mothers. I doubt that he is the same man but one never knows. I live in New York City and would appreciate any leads. My great grandfather's parents were Juan Llamas and Maria Rodriquez. Per the 1910 Census they were born in Spain but with those names it could be anywhere in Spain. Since Puerto Rico belonged to Spain until 1898, they could have been born in Puerto Rico but unfortunately, the films at the Latter Day Saints records only go as far as 1885. They were long gone by that date.

The Tharsis Sulphur and Copper Company was a major employer both at its copperworks in Garngad in the Dennistoun district of Glasgow and also at its copper mines at Tharsis in Andalucia, Spain.

"The Mines of Tharsis" by S G Checkland was published in 1967 because the Company's records were donated to the archives of Glasgow University. The book gives an excellent account of this significant economic activity during the industrial revolution.

Many British went to work in Spain and a list of foreign residents of the Mines of Tharsis in the year 1887 is found on this page:

Federico Gutierrez

I'm trying to track down any information about my great-great-grandparents. My great-great-grandfather was named Federico (or Frederico?) Gutierrez, and I'm told he was from Andalusia, Spain. He left Spain (I've heard perhaps not voluntarily) and wound up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He married a woman named Carolina who was born in France, but I don't know if that was before or after he left Spain.

His son, Henry John Gutierrez (1869-1953) was born in New Orleans and later lived in Biloxi, Mississippi. I've also heard Federico and Carolina had a daughter named Rachel, but I know nothing about her.

I'm at a loss as to how to find out anything further about Federico and Carolina. No luck so far on any of the genealogy websites.

Any tips would be much, much appreciated.

According to an earlier family researcher (now deceased), my ancestor Charles (baptized Carlos) Hollinger/Holliger was born at sea and baptized in Cadiz, Spain when they made land. His father, Jacob, was a Swiss mercenary fighting with the British DeWatteville regiment and his mother, Teresa Policere(one of many spellings)was a Sicilian he met during the Napoleanic campaign there. According to this researcher: "they put back the boat into Cadiz, Spain and 'Carlos' was baptized. God parents were the Commanding Officer and two fellow Sergeants. It was dated March 11, 1812."

Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find a copy of this? Would there have been one Catholic church in Cadiz at that time? Although I live in So California, I stupidly took Latin in school (many years ago) instead of Spanish and I'm afraid I don't know where to start. I'd appreciate any help or guidance. I posted this on the general forum for Spain also. I will be checking both for responses. Thanks!

Severa nacio alrededor de 1839 en San Roman (de donde tu familia es).
Los padres de Severa fueron Alvaro Alvarez y Josefa Gonzalez (tambien de San Roman) y nacieron entre 1873 y 1878.

Hello,I am new to this site but I thought you would like some information on the Pablo Tresierra side. Pablo was married to Hortense Isnardy. He had I believe 12 kids as well one of which was Charlie. Charlie Tresierra married Harriet Brown and they had 12 kid.One of which was my husbands mother Rita. My grandmother's own grandmother was Matilde Bagayon Pujals and I've been told the Bagayon family came from Andalucia. Hola, yo tambien me llamo Puertas y mi familia es de Motril, en la costa de Granada. Mis antepasados (bisabuelo) vinieron de Gualchos, un pueblo cercano que tiene una parte de costa que se llama Castell de Ferro. El municipio se llama ahora Gualchos-Castell pues la costa ha crecido mucho mas que el interior. Se establecieron en Calahonda, un pueblecito de pescadores que pertenece al término municipal de Motril y que tiene unos 2000 habitantes ahora. La mayoria de la familia continua alli. Al inscribirse en Motril, les cambiaron el sigular Puerta por el plural Puertas, así que somos los mismos.

Josephine Tresierra. Mostly it is said that she is from
Vancouver Island. But there is a 1901 Census from the
Village of Clinton and Josephine is listed as being
born in USA and her Racial or Tribal Origin is listed
"Cree Scotch Breed". The other information I came across
is when her son Pablo married Hortense Isnardy in 1886
Paplo's mother's name is listed as Hettie on the marriage
certificate. Copie or those certificatess are attached

Yes, this is the same Andrew. I've been able to trace back as far as his parents (Andrew Martinez and Maria(listed 'Mary') Boronino, but am stuck! Looking for their parents' names, and where they came from. If you are able to find anything farther back please let me know!
I'm also trying to find out if there are Jewish roots in this family line, but will probably have to resort to DNA testing. I'll set up my family tree so you can view it!
