Definitly. My family in Puerto Rico carry their names. During the Spanish Colonization of Puerto Rico many people from Spain relacate to PR. They left Spain from the coast of Blanes,Spain to come to PR. Puerto Rico was for the Crown the most important posesion for it's Gold and other minerals and location. So the Spanish need it people to colonize PR. During the time some of them married the locals and established their family. One of this people that arrived from Blanes,Spain was Francisco Ruiz he married Encarnacion Tizol of San Juan, PR. and had a child name Eduardo Ruiz Tizol De Ferrer. He was my mother (Petra Leon Ruiz) grandfather. I'm having dificulties in locating this family in Spain. Although they left Spain from the coast Blanes that doesn't mean that's their place of birth. Most of the voyages of Christopher Columbus initiated there in Blanes so people looking for job sailing traveled to Blanes from their birth places. So I need assistance in getting information how to search for this people that I'am related in Spain.

Hola Rafael. Aparentemente Tizol es una variante castellanizada de un apellido frances o italiano. La familia Tizol en PR es famosa por sus musicos. Juan Tizol es su mas famoso descendiente que tocó con Duke Ellington y cOmpuso varias de sus exitos. Basilio Serrano escribió un libro que puedes conseguir en Amazon y ademas te puede aclarar tu apellido.

I believe that the spellings are correct.
The only link I have to the Llobell and Baldo part of my family is through my Grandma who is 86 years old and her memory is not that good.
She has told me the information on my family tree but I dont speak French or Spanish so I am having alot of difficulty in finding anthing out.
I will be seeing her at the weekend and I will try to get further information to send to.

Looking for my mystery grandmother

Hello, I'm having a difficult time finding ANY info on my grandmother. Her name was Modesta Guardiola. I don't have dates of her birth and death. All I have to go on is the DOB of my father. He was born in 1913 in Elgin, TX. She died 3 yrs later. She married Pedro Lucio (do not know where marriage took place) and he lived until 1953. No other children were born of this marriage. Her parents immigrated from Mexico (according to docs I found). Parents were Ignacio and Santos Guardiola. She had 3 brothers. Both are deceased and both lived in San Antonio, TX. Only one had family and they live in SA. Her brothers were born in Kyle, TX. Brothers and grandparents are buried in SA, TX. I know she existed. I have a pic her and my grandfather Pedro!

I think they did. Here is why, Spanish Crown was the dominal power during this time, they held Puerto Rico from 1509-1898 as a high colonial priority, Spain possession. And in 1898 Puerto Rico was ceded to the United States by the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico was the last colony held the longest by the Spanish Crown. So many Spaniar married with locals Puertorican and had families and called Puerto Rico their home and became US citizens in 1916.

Francisco Ruiz he came from Spain. I'm still trying to find out when;however he married Encarnacion Tizol, she was from San Juan, PR. So my great grandfather Eduardo Ruiz was born in Puerto Rico. His father Francisco Ruiz was from Andalucia, Spain. I confirmed this information when I found the married certificate of Eduardo Ruiz Tizol and Ana Reyes Cruz my great grandmother. Source: Puerto Rico Civil Registration Matrimoney 1913-1921. I'm sure they emigrated from Spain to Puerto Rico. The issue is that I don't know where in Andalucia, Spain his family come from. I'm asking for assistance so that I can finally find the stating point of my family. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to write me.

I am trying to locate my Collazo family. I'm desperately looking for some help in locating my grandfather Juan Collazo BarPortla (born 1870) and his family. The family was force to flee Spain in one of their revolutions about 1880. Juan, his five brothers and sister were orphaned as a result of the fighting. Juan's father was a Spanish Consular diplomat posted in Portugal. The children were all sent to Puerto Rico as a safe heaven. My grandfather Juan was born in 1870 and was about five years old when they left Spain. Supposedly, they live in Cadaques and Barcelona Spain and sailed from Barcelona to PR. I have no records of who his siblings were and where they lived in PR. Juan I think live in Ponce, but some of the family lived in Utuado(?).I would greatly appreciate any information available from any of the Collazo descendance scattered all over the world.

We seek death information for a Danish citizen named Captain Borge Rohde who lived somewhere in Spain after 1954 with his new wife, Ebba Elisabeth Friis Henningsen. Unfortunately, we do not know where he lived, and this has severely slowed us in our search, so we are posting this message on several Spanish boards. He was born in the 1890s in Copenhagen as Borge Tegner, but was adopted by a Hermann Rohde, hence the last name. He was formerly married to Ambassador to Denmark Ruth Bryan Owen Rohde, but she died in 1954, and he remarried. Any help would be appreciated. We don't know when the wife, Ebba, died either, and would appreciate having that info if it were available.

I am looking for any infomation or help with my Great Grandfathers family.
He was born Joseph Llobell on 14/12/1903 in Denia, Alicante I believe he moved to Algers with his father and James Llobell (c1880) and two sisters Rosette (c1901) and Philomenia (c1902) after the death of their mother Philomenia Arail (c1880).
I know that Joseph married my Great Grandmother Rose Baldo in Algers which is also where he lost his life in 1933.
However I am do not speak or read Spanish and I am really struggling to find out anything more about him or his family.
