I am also looking for information from this area, Cordoba. I'm trying to find out about my husband's Mother, Rafaela Aliaga Juarez. She is deceased and we have no contact from her side of the family so I don't have much information on her besides her birth date (3/30/31) and Death date (3/12/86).

I'm new to this and if anyone can give me advice on where to look it would be much appreciated. I have tried Family Search but the is no records.

The only info I have is her Date of Birth is about 1877, she married William Candlish in 1900 but was in England by then.

Hi Lucie,

I am looking for my great grandmother. She was born in Spain and we think her name was Carey (although it is shown as Kerry on her marriage certificate.)

First name is Elizabeth and she was know as Lizzie (in english - not sure what it would have been in spanish).

I have heard of a large wealthy Carey family from Alicante, but I would suspect my relation to be illegitimate or something like that, as she never discussed her family and had no correspondence from them.

If you can give any help, I would very much appreciate it.

I would think that someone was originally from Spain. They immigrated to Texas USA. There was a land grant that was issued to them once they got to Texas. I would like to know how to locate a copy of the Spanish Land Grant?

Andalusia is divided into eight provinces: Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaen, Malaga and Sevilla. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andalusia,_Spain

So as you can see, it will be very hard to find your ancestors unless you have more information.

I am from PR. I know my great grand father is from spain. last name Orta. he married a native last name andino, but in PR his names Rafael Orta I do not know a lot about him other that he was from andalucia and move to pr some time in 1900 or 1930.

I am researching my husbands line and wondering if there might be a connection because his grandfather, Tomas Fernandez, was from Asturias, Spain and he also had some family who stayed in Cuba. Tomas was born in 1902. His father, Ulpiano Fernandez Menendez was born in Spain in 1878. He married Virginia Garcia. I'm not sure of their immigration timeline yet but they settled in Harrison County, WVirginia abt. 1905 to work in a big Chemical plant. Ulpiano's parents were Bernardo Fernandez and Cecilia Garcia, b. abt. 1860?

Maria Marin is listed on headstone died in Mt Pleasant Michigan USA 1941. Born somewhere in Spain abt. 1874. Married Isidro Rodriguez who was b. in Mexico abt 1850. Lived in Texas. Isidro died in San Antonio, Texas.
She had 3 children two girls and one son by the name of Joe/Joseph/Jose Rodriguez who was born in 1896 in Victoria Mexico according to his NA.

I would like help in this matter if possible

My family is from Perillo and Santa Cruz in the Oleiros area just outside La Coruna. I'm looking for: Amparo Calviño Cruz born 1906 who might have married Manolo Navarete and had several children including Horacio Navarete Calviño; Juana Vieites Pose 1842 (or Posse) who married Jose Cruz Ferreiro 1840 with several children including Maria Rosa Cruz Vieites and possibly Antonio Cruz Vieites; Antonio Cruz Vieites married Matilde Eiroa and had a son Jose Cruz Eiroa 1903.

Hi, this is very kind, I'm searching for my grandparents, I know they were spanish, I believe Aurelia Morro Soisa (1922 - 1944)came from Gibralter and Jose Victory (1911 - 1991) came from the andalucia region of spain. They were previously both married to other people and ran away together and ended up in London UK. They had 5 kids: Jose b1943, Rogelio b1950, Carmen b1948, John b1944 (my father) and Aurelia b1945, My grandmother also had a daughter by her first marriage also called Carmen, and they did not marry each other, my father John Victory was baptised in Ireland!
The family own property in Costa del Sol so perhaps one of the families comes from this area. Any threads would be amazing - youre my last hope!

they had land in Puerto Rico. trying to track Lazaros family back into Spain Lugo was listed by Juana Puente in 1900 @ age 52 before the court in Puerto Rico as she claimed to retain her Spanish citizen ship...also trying to see if Lazaro in Puerto Rico is the Same Lazaro Puente in Mexico imprisoned for Journalism related to extermination of Yaqui indians under Mexican President Porfinio Dias hw would have founded Club Liberal Libertad and been a supporter of Ricardo Flores Magon...(found his name in a book: Barbarous Mexico, Turner 1910)

I am looking for any information on my grandfather, Enrique Hoppe. This is what I know; he was a stowaway and came to America by way of ship to New York. He did not get caught so there are no records of him at Ellis Island. The first place I find him is in Mexico. He was born in Barcelona, February 25, 1894. He had a sister named Nieves Hoppe born about 1897 and died June 30, 1955. She married a man with the last name Ubach and has a daughter, Natividad. I found a letter from the daughter to my grandfather and she used the surname Hoppe. I was always told my grandfather was a Spainard but I'm finding that Hoppe is a German surname. My grandfather spoke nothing but Spainsh so we never questioned that he wasn't of Spanish decent. He had light brown hair, fair skin and blue eyes. When my father, his son was in the Navy he went to Spain and meet his Aunt Nieves but never told us any stories. Just that he went to Spain and meet her. I do have a picture of his mother and father with no names and a picture of his sister and niece. At this point I have exhausted all searching avenues and have nowhere else to search. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

I would like to trace the exact country of origin of Francisco, none of the documents in the uk gives any indication. However, on the IGI and another website, it states that he had a son Guillelmus (my 3xgreat grandfather) in 1802 in England. Would the name stated as Guillelmus and not William be a clue to the country of origin? Is Guillelmus prevalent in Spain or Italy or both?
My theory is that the family were originally from Spain before moving on to Italy, then leaving in the late 1700's to come to Scotland.
The family changed the name from Codoni/Cadoni/Codony to Codona in the mid 1800's. I was wondering if you could maybe see a geographical pattern of the movement of the name between the countries.
All I know of Francisco is that he died in 1849 in Birmingham, he was listed on the 1841 census in Birmingham, he had several children, but no indication of his origin on those documents. His partner was Eleanor/Leonora/Ellena Lamb - I could find no marriage certificate for them. The earliest certificate I have is from 1798 in Edinburgh, so they must have been married prior to this.
Francisco was referred to in a book as the Italian Cadoni and he was also the first person to bring Punch and Judy to Scotland.
I'm curious as to why the name was changed to Codona, was it because that was the original name before Codoni? I just don't know.
If there is anything at all you can find out, I would be very grateful.

My 4 x great grandfather was Francisco Codoni/Cadoni/Codony - he married Leonora/Eleanor Lamb. He was born around 1751/52 and he was a travelling showman who died in the UK in 1849 in Birmingham. His family mostly lived in Scotland but moved around as circus performers and latterly as fairground proprietors.
The familysearch website has many references to Codoni/Cadoni/Codony in Spain, Italy and Switzerland but the name became Codona in mid 1800's and has been ever since, which leads me to believe that was the original family name. The name, or derivatives appear to be prevalent in Girona but Catalunya in general.
I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on what is now, a relatively unusual but famous name in Scotland.

It makes a lot of since with this Pedro Augustin. As Isidoro did tell that he had to take care of his little brother Augustin after they lost their parents.
What did confuse were that he also had an older brother by the same name, and he didn't tell anything about him.

Of course sad that you couldn't find anything more, but it was worth a shot, and I appreciate it a lot.

I hope you can help me with some info about this family..

Main person is Isodoro Panduro, born in Alcázar de San Juan, La Mancha, Spain 7th. April 1787. He died in Denmark 23rd. June 1859.
He was son of Augustin Diaz-Panduro Born about 1760, died in an explosion 1802 at the gunpowder factory in Alcázar de San Juan. And Ana Dorotea Jimenez-Jimeno born about 1773 and she was also killed in the same explosion in 1802.

Isidoros older brother Augustin Panduro born 2nd. March 1786 left for Peru and founded the Panduro family there, as Isidoro did it in Denmark.

A younger brother have been mentioned, by the name Augustus Panduro born 1792. But I have not been able to confirm him.

They had an older sister. Maria Enmanuela Panduro born 1785.
She was married but I don't know to whom and what ever became of her.

Who were Isidoro's grandparents?

Anything you can add to the family will be much appreciated.

My fathers full name is Rafael Barragan-Fernandez he was born in 1946 in Granada Spain.He had a sister also born in 1948,her name is maria Barragan-Fernandez.Their mother died approx 1950 and we think her name was Elaine/eleanor Fernandez Gonzales.His father is Rafael Barragan arroyo.At some point the father,son and sister went to Barcelona.

I am trying to trace back to my great grandmother Catherine Sanchez (Catalina Spanish equivalent I guess).
I have here birth as 1853, father Joseph (Jose?) Sanchez but not sure if Spain or Gibraltar and she married John Chidwick in St Mary the Crowned Gilbraltar in 1879. The story goes Catherine eloped to marry John.
I think shortly after marriage, John was posted back to England (was in the British Army).
I would like to know more details of her father, who her mother was and go back even further if possible?
