I apologize I do not speak Spanish. I am a descendent of Jose Acebo who was born June 29, 1854 in Spain. All information I have about his birth comes from a biographical source written 1894 in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. It says he was born in Santander to Jose Antonio Acebo and Thomasa (Guiterrez?). At the time of the writing, his mother was still living in Spain. Jose Acebo left Spain in 1869 for America. His ship stopped in Cuba. From there he traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana. He lived there for a year then moved to Brownsville in southern Texas. He worked as a store clerk for several years then moved to Corpus Christi where he bought his own dry goods and grocery store. He also owned land and cattle. He married Annie Kelly in Corpus Christi and their children's descendents still live in that area. Jose was a prominent figure in Corpus, involved in government and politics. He was well respected in his church and community.
I would very much like to find information about Jose Acebo's parents and ancestors, or at least history of the Acebo family. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Gracias!
