I am researching the family of Manuel Mendes for my step-father. Manual Mendes was born Jan-17-1891 in Azores, Portugal the son of Manuel Mendes and Barbara DeJesus.

He immigrated to the USA around 1909 and settled in Rhode Island. He married Maria Julia Carvalho sometime around 1914 in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

Maria Julia Carvalho was born Nov-23-1897 in Azores, the daughter of Manuel Carvalho & Maria Louise Coite. She immigrated to the USA sometime around 1913.

They 1st appear on 1915 Rhode Island State Census in Providence, Rhode Island.

I am looking for more information concerning their parents & families in Azores. Any information pertaining to these individuals would be appreciated. Thanks..... Deb
