about Jan de Kam. His wife is Leuntje Wisse The place they are living is called Grijpskerke. Their marriage was in Meliskerke on February 2, 1872. The marriages can also be found on www.genlias.nl Botj sites have dutch and english interfaces.

Thank you! That link was extremely helpful - over the course of a couple of hours I was able to trace back three additional generations from Jan de Kam! But now I have another question: I've hit a dead end with the family in the 1777-1783 time period that includes Pieter de Kam buying property in Zoutelande, and later marrying Cornelia Janze. It seems like a lot of the records from that period and earlier deal only with the sale of land. Any additional tips on searching records from that era? From a historic perspective, was the prevalence of these sales because the area was still being actively reclaimed from the North Sea?
