But now I have another question: I've hit a dead end with the family in the 1777-1783 time period that includes Pieter de Kam buying property in Zoutelande, and later marrying Cornelia Janze. It seems like a lot of the records from that period and earlier deal only with the sale of land. Any additional tips on searching records from that era? From a historic perspective, was the prevalence of these sales because the area was still being actively reclaimed from the North Sea?
