Marianne Oldaker, Utrecht, Deceased/Overledene 1840

I am helping a friend with her Oldaker family research. She knows some of the Oldaker family she is researching, a family from England, lived in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in the mid-1830s.

I stumbled upon the text of a book with records for Utrecht for 1840, with deaths listed. I found the following in the section of the book for May (Mei) 1840 deaths (overlenden)
27 Mei - Marianne Oldaker, ongeh. [abbreviation for "ongehuwd"/"unmarried"], 23j. [does this mean 23 years old at death/23 jaar?], onder de Linden
Source: Google Books, Book title: Utrecht voorheen en thans, Volume 6, 1840. Page 56, Column 2
TinyURL link: http://tinyurl.com/kmerm54

My questions:
1. I know "onder de Linden" means "under the Linden." Plus, I have seen it both as a Dutch surname/family name and a place name. Can anyone tell me what it means in this death record entry?

2. Is there a way I can find out the name of the deceased Marianne Oldaker's father and/or mother?

My thanks in advance for any help with this research. So far, I am not sure if the Marianne Oldaker in the Utrecht 1840 death record is one my friend is researching.

Hello,

The name of the parents are possibly: Bannert Oldaker and Nancij Warters.
This because I found a deceased child in Rotterdam. Sophia Emma Oldaker, deceased on April, 31, 1831 in Rotterdam. She was born in Brussels. She was 11 years, 11 months and 23 days old.

The last names of her parents are he same as in the death records of Marianne Oldaker, who died in Utrecht on May 24, 1840 in Utrecht at the age of 23.

What "onder de Linden" means I do not know. I have to look in the original death record. Maybe there is more to find. I will look in the original death record, if I can find it.

Hello,

"Onder de Linden" is probably the name of the house she lived. She lived in the house of Reinout Baron Carl van Tuyll Van Serooskerken in Utrecht.
His name is mentioned in her death certificate.

Thank you so much for the information you found! The people answering questions on these message boards are phenomenal, you included, Robert.

I believe the information you found verifies that the deceased Marianne Oldaker was the daughter of England-born cabinet maker Barnard Oldaker (sometimes spelled Oldacre in records) and his wife, also from England, Nancy Waters (maybe Warters) Oldaker.

The information you gave also verifies family lore my friend has that the Oldaker family lived in Belgium for a while. Plus, you provided the name of another child of Barnard and Nancy Oldaker, Sophia Emma, who died in 1831 in Rotterdam.

You are amazing.

Most gratefully for my friend, others researching this family line, and myself -

Forgot to Ask - Re: Marianne Oldaker, Utrecht, Deceased/Overledene 1840

Hello, again Robert -

In my excitement in reading your replies to my message, and responding to you, I forgot to ask if the death record information for both Marianne Oldaker, who died 27 May/Mei 1840, as reported in the Utrecht publication I found, and the death of young Sophia Emma Oldaker, who died at Rotterdam 31 Apr 1831 (born about 1819, Brusselles/Bruxelles, Belgium) are available (in Dutch) on through an online/Internet source. If they are, can you give me the web address(es)? Or, if they are only still in book/hard copy sources, can you give me the proper bibliographic citations for those records?

I am a librarian by training and do like to have the right source information to pass on to my friend and her other family members.

My friend is fluent in German and may be able to work her way through some Dutch text. If you know of any Belgian source for the birth information on Sophia Emma Oldaker, I know French. If any Belgian record(s) are in French, I can figure them out.

My thanks, again, for your quick reply and excellent findings.

In Case Others Are Researching This Oldaker Family

I will add this, in case others are researching this Oldaker family, which I am researching for a friend.

There are marriage records for 2 of the daughters of Barnard and Nancy Oldaker: Caroline and Harriet/Harriett Oldaker. The family lived in Rotterdam, The Netherlands but both daughters were married at The Hague at the British Consulate by the Church of England pastor who was affiliated with the British Consulate.

Also, some of the children of Barnard Oldaker (cabinet maker from England) and his wife Nancy were baptized in England and some were baptized by the Church of England pastor affiliated with the British Consulate in Paris, France.

Both Caroline and Harriet (maybe spelled Harriett) Oldaker married men who were English citizens, like themselves and their parents.

My friend and her other family members have marriage records for The Hague marriages. Plus, they have the England and Paris baptismal records.

There are messages and answers about some of the family of Barnard and Nancy Waters (Warters) Oldaker (Oldacre) on the Rootschat.com message boards and the Oldaker surname Ancestry.com message board.

My thanks in advance for any future information posted here.
