Robert, you are so wonderful!

My friend and others in her family will be so happy with this image of the death certificate for Marianne Oldaker. I was wondering if she died in the city of Utrecht or someplace within the region of Utrecht. Your information clarified that for me to pass on to my friend, too.

At first, I debated about posting my query on the death record I found for Marianne Oldaker. I'm so happy I did and so grateful you saw it, choosing to conduct the research and provide all of this wonderful information.

On a personal note: I am so happy many people in the Netherlands study and learn English so very well. The only thing I am conversant in regarding Dutch is chocolate. ;)

So many thanks to you, Robert. If I can conduct any United States or Canadian genealogical research for you or someone you know, do not hesitate to get in touch with me through Ancestry.com messaging. I would be most happy to return the favor.

Best wishes -

It is certificate number 2311, page b 139 in the registry of birth, marriage and death of the town Rotterdam.

Oh My Goodness - Another Daughter of Barnard and Nancy Oldaker - Georgina

Hello, Robert -

What a find. . . another record for a child of Barnard and Nancy Oldaker about whom my friend did not know!

I think your find of the record for Georgina brings the total number of their children known to 11! No wonder mother Nancy Warters (Waters?) Oldaker passed away at age 42 in 1831. I'm afraid the poor dear was worn out.

One more "thank you" for this information and the image. I did make out the word "schrijnwerker" in the second line of the record, right below the name "Barnard Olaaker" (looks like "Olaaker" to me, anyway.) With my handy online Dutch to English translation software I see the word is translated as:
joiner, carpenter, furniture maker, cabinetmaker. The record is definitely for a child of the Barnard Oldaker and wife Nancy my friend is researching.

Thank you so much for your amazing research!

Best wishes -

"Journal de la Haye", Aug. 7th, 1839 and "Dagblad van 's Gravenhage" Aug. 5th, 1839. Marianne and her friend (or was M. a sort of chambermaid?) visited Scheveningen, a searesort near Den Haag.

You can find the dates of and the number on the deathcertificates here: https://www.wiewaswie.nl/personen-zoeken/zoeken/q/oldaker and with the dates and number you can search here: http://zoekakten.nl/prov.php?id=UT . Sorry it's in Dutch.

Hello Jean,

My first research is always on WieWasWie site, but this site has not all information of all the Dutch ancestors. It is limited and you find only transcriptions and the sources of the records. The link is:

https://www.wiewaswie.nl/en/search/advanced-search/

When I have that information, source, town and date I go to the next site: (only in Dutch)
It has almost all available original records, sorted by province and by town.

http://zoekakten.nl/index.php

When you find the right original certificate, you can download it.

Also on this site you can find certificates from Belgium.

A lot of Dutch towns have their own site for digital sources. But all in the Dutch language
E.g. Rotterdam:

This is the link:
http://rotterdam.digitalestamboom.nl/search.aspx?app_route=8...

I found the death record of Georgina Oldaker. She died in Rotterdam on February 18, 1831 in the age of 3 month and 3 days. Certificate number 363, page a 062.
The certificate is attached.

Hello, Robert -

Thank you so much for the web site information. I will look at them and save them in my Bookmarks/Favorites.

Also thank you for the death information of baby Georgina Oldaker. I always feel a bit sad to find death records of very young children.

My friend has been mightily impressed with all the information you have found. I am annotating the images you gave as attachments to your messages, with the information you provided and saving them all as JPEG images to send to my friend. I have noted you as the "collector" of the images in my annotations, which I insert above the images in the JPEGs I save. I like to give proper credit for whatever information is located, including credit to the person who found the information.

I am a librarian by training and like to cite sources properly. :)

I will check for any other Oldaker records in Belgium on the web site you have provided. Of course, any records in Flemish will be out of my scope, except for names. French as well as Spanish are my other languages beyond English.

If my friend has difficulty in using her fluent German to help her figure out the Dutch in the records she or I may be getting back to you. As I wrote in an earlier post, I know French, but my knowledge of Dutch extends only to Dutch chocolate. ;)

Using my English to Dutch translation software . . .
Eeuwige dank / Eternal thanks -

Hello, ubbenkotte -

Thank you so very much for the added information you have located, the images and the source web site addresses.

My friend and others in her family will be amazed and very happy with what you have located.

We don't know what Marianne Oldaker did in life as an adult. I wondered if perhaps she worked in service after her mother died.

As far as my friend, others who are researching this Oldaker family line, and I know, 4 of the adult children of Barnard and Nancy Waters (maybe Warters) Oldaker (also spelled Oldacre in some records) eventually immigrated to North America. One daughter, Caroline, with husband James Turnbull and their young son, settled at Quebec City in Canada. One daughter, Harriet/Harriett immigrated to the USA, New York City, with her husband and their first son. Another daughter, Emily also immigrated, as a single female, to New York City where she married an Amos H. Colt. A son, Alfred Oldaker, also immigrated to New York City, starting off his work life there as a carpenter and possibly a furniture maker, like his father. He married as well.

Again, thank you for the information you provided.
