Can anyone give me any information as to the parents of Cornelius Johannes Voorhorst? He was born in 1818, I assume in the Overijssel province and emigrated to Overisel, Michigan. He eventually married Frederika Kleinheksel and died in 1889. I would appreciate any information as to his parents, origin or life prior to emigrating to the U.S. I have not been able to find any information as to his parents. I believe he may have emigrated from the Hellendoorn area in the Overijssel province.

He was born in Staphorst, Overijssel, on Nov. 14, 1817. Finding info about his parents seems to be a bit hard. The answer might be on this microfilm (births 1811-1822), but it seems like you have to pay for that.

Hello,

Yes, you found him! Here: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-11514-4823-79?cc=... (page 400) you can find his parents: Lambert Voorhorst and Geesjen Wijnvoorn. The couple marries 1813 in Zwolle as Lambert Voorhorst and Geesien Wienvoorden (https://www.wiewaswie.nl/personen-zoeken/zoeken/document/a2a...).

It's a pity that sometimes persons who ask for help don't give any answer anymore after things are found, searched by others.
Or it must have been private of when there are personal circumstances that one can't answer
But if that's not the case, sometimes it's a bit frustrating.
One tries to help, search and then no reply at all (in that case) ????

Jettie,

I would be happy to answer any questions I possibly can, since I made the original query on this thread. What is your question?

Daniel,

I think Jettie means a simple "thank you" in recognition of the time and effort people take to search for information you asked for......

Taking help for granted (or the appearance thereof) takes away the willingness of a lot of persons to try and give that help.

So those two simple words make a world of difference....

And looking at Jettie's track record here on ancestry.com she is one of the main "helpers" on the Dutch boards, as are Ubbenkotte and Luke.

Kind regards,
Marianne
