I'm trying to complete my grandmother's family. I'm trying to find information on the parents of David Broek born October 19, 1852 in the area of Kampen. David married Margaret Van Dyk who was born September 25, 1852. David and Margaret had six children: William, Hilda, John, Christina, Bert and Effie. They all immigrated to the United States and settled in Northwest Iowa. Would like any information on David Broek or Margaret Van Dyk. Thank You.

Thank you very much. . Is this information on the family a part of a census record, or the fact they were citizens of Kampen? Is it a part of their immigration record?

Thank you very much, Joanne. It's good to have confirmation of their emmigration. I checked their records on the Ellis Island website and their names do appear but the date of arrival and the ages of the parents and kids are incorrect. I'm wondering what is wrong with the Ellis Island records?

Dear Maryann,

I happen to know a Hilligje ten Hove, who has married a David Broek. I've looked up the birth date and it mentioned 1855. I'm not sure if this will help you out. I also know of a grandfather of the same David Broek who also was named David Broek. Mrs. Broek - ten Hove is a part of my family tree.

What maybe more interesting is the fact that my great-grandparents (Mense ten Hove & Geertje ten Hove - Plender) have been immigrated from Kampen to Hull, Lyon county Iowa around the year 1920's and begat a child (Geesje) who is baptized over there, but I'm not sure what church (still a question to me). That child is the sister of my late grandfather.

I would hope that based on these facts you can do some small research for me regarding the 'ten Hoves' (also spelled: Tenhove) for me. It cannot cross my mind that the ten Hoves did not leave any footprints.

Hope this helps and I would really appreciate any efforts or comments that you can give me regarding my family.
