I am interested in any trace of or information regarding the Vaz Dias family, a strong jewish family in Amsterdam and other cities. All Vaz(s) Dias members in the world appear to stem from the same family of Aron Vaz Dias born 1724 in Lisboa, Portugal who migrated to Amsterdam and married Sara aCathan. Please contact me at jbagroff@gulf.net.au

Hello,

On the 21st of march my aunt died, Her name was Therese Alberta Vas Dias-Aalten. She was born on 26-02-1928. This is all the information I have about the name Vas-Dias. Her husbands name was Hans if I'm not mistaken. He died at least 10 years ago. But I have no exact dates. Sorry.

with friendly regards,

Kirsten Aalten.

My grandmother was Reina Vas Dias. She was from Amsterdam or there abouts. She would have been born about 1872. Married Henri Schavier. They lived together for a time in New York and produced a son, my father, Henry Bernard Schavier-van Voorst before returning to Holland. Thats all I know but would love to know more about her???

Dear Patti, today I visited THE Grave of your grandmother Reina Vaz Dias in Ouderkerk at THE Portugese Jewish cemetery. I am also very interested in her because she seems to have been married to my grandgrandfather. She died in 1945 in Amsterdam. Greetings, Bas

Surnames: Acathan, Vaz Diaz
I know nobody here has been on for a while, but I believe the surname to be Acathan rather than aCathan.
This Sara Acathan is likely to be Sara Acathan b.1737. She is from a strong jewish family from Amsterdam so although my data from the 1700s on this family is weak, it is probable that she is from Amsterdam. See http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/42188697/family?fpid=197654... for Sara Acathan.
I have specific interest in this Acathan branch as well as a new founded interest in Aron Vaz Dias if any more information could surface or be provided please.
