Interesting...I have checked for my great-grandfather Antonius van Berkel at elisisland.org and have been there a few times. But just recently I looked a little further to find that he came to Little Chute, Wisconsin in 1903 to live with an uncle, Gerardus van Berkel. Have since looked at other van Berkel records from Ellis Island and discovered that they too went to Little Chute. These van Berkels were from a small town in Holland called Uden. I believe all of these van Berkels were related, so if you have not looked at records for Uden, try there. Hope this helps.
