I am looking for the parents of Adriaan Jans Warntjes b. abt 1820 in Bellingwolde or Vriescheloo, married to Geessien Lukas Bakker. They have a son Hendrik Warntjes who married Wolterdina Wolters. Her parents are Wolter Berend Wolters married to Topke Troff. Their grandson Adrian Hendrik Warntjes left for the U.S. in 1892. Does anyone has further information about those families ??? I am living in Belgium, so reply can also be in Dutch.

I dont know if we are related but the names are the same but the dates dont match. My great grandfathers name was Henry or Hendrik Warntjes. I have a copy of his Dutch Birth certificate which was transladed to english as is Hendrik Warntjes born January 3 1870 in Gemeonte Billingwode , province Groninggen. His father is Jan Warntjes 33years old, mother is Geeske Boelew. They had a son named Adraan Warntjes born Nov 6 1865 and daughter Grietze June 12 1875. If you are interested maybe I can fax some info to you. Some of the dates dont match death certificate by a couple of days or years. I have a little bit more info please Email back Jim Glavin Castro Valley California starman49@attbi.com

Jan's wife, Geeske, died and he married Jantje Engelkes Abbas on March 19, 1881 in Bellingwolde according to GenLias. I am tracking that family and would be interested in comparing notes with others working on this line.

I think this is somehow related. I just started looking into my
grandmothers family history from the netherlands. I have
infor on a Katherine warntjes born 1881, Bellingwolde, Netherlands, showing her mother - Wolter Dena Wolter born 2/17/1844 (from Friesland Germany) and Wolter married
to Henry Warnties (Holland) but I have no dob, city etc..
on Henry. Any dates you can give me would help because
I am at a dead end. The infor. I have shows that Wolters died
in Orange City IA (usa) I am asuming she went to USA with
her daughter Katherine? (my grandmother told me she thinks
her mother Katherine Warntjes came to the USA on ship around age 2) Thanks if you can give me any info in Henry

Hello Holly:

Auke Schaafsma provided some good information for you in his response and more information is available through www.genlias.nl. The site has been a great help for me and it shows your "Henry" was Hindrik, the brother of the Jan Warntjes, born 1837, in my files. Jan married Jantje Engelkes Abbas, a branch of my Abbas ancestor line.

Here is some information from Genlias that will help break a wall for you and will tease into checking the site right away. I've translated the information but you can follow along on GenLias.

5 May 1869: Bellingwolde, Groningen, Netherlands; marriage record # 6
Husband: Hindrik Warntjes, born in Vriescheloo, now part of Bellingwolde, age 23
Parents: Adriaan Jans Warntjes and Geessien Lukas Bakker

Wife: Wolterdina Wolters, born in Stapelmoer, Dld (Ostfriesland, Germany), age 25
Parents: Wolter Berends Wolters and Topke Troff

Adriaan and Geessien's marriage is also there and you should find many relatives in Vriescheloo and Bellingwolde.

Good luck with your research;
Roger Peters

Hallo Auke,

Laat mij dan even horen via mijn email adres: rowland34@aol.com

Vriendelijke groet,
