You ancestor is likely related to my own who lived in Texas during the mid to late 1800's. My grandfather's older brother was Lafayette Kuykendall, known as Fate, and born in Texas in around 1870-80. Maybe he was named after him, or after the same relative. My own ancestry is as follows:
(Starting with my Grandfather - Dolph)

Dolph Kuykendall 24 April 1882, Bullhead, near the Nueces River, Texas

Samuel Benjamin Franklin Kuykendall 13 November 1833, Tennessee

John Kuykendall 1799, Tennessee

Simon Kuykendall 1766, North Carolina

Abraham Kuykendall 18 October 1719, Kingston, New York

Cornelius Van Kuykendall 30 May 1686, Kingston, New York

Luur Jacobson Van Kuykendall 29 May 1650, Albany, New York

Jacob Luursen (Van Wageningen) 1616, Wageningen, Holland

I have been to Holland and walked on the land identified by a local professor at the University of Wageningen as the land called Kuykendall. If you would like additional information, please reply.
