I am searching for any info on either Adam VanAllman or Conrad VanAllman. Adam VanAllman may be the immigrant to USA. I find him in Pennsylvania married to Catherine Mogul.
I have no birth date or location.

Thank you, Eileen

Hi Eileen
I came accross the surnames of Sleek and Slick under your name. There is a Johannes Slick/Sleek that came to the US about 1740's from Rotterdam Holland. They settled in Maryland and then Bedford Pennsylvania. I'm sure that Johannes was related because I found my gg grandfather in Bedford, Pa in the 1860 Census. His name was John Slick, which was later changed to John Sleek by 1870. Is your research also Slick and Sleek ? If you have anything on Johannes or any Slicks or Sleeks I would like to here from you.

Hi Mark,
Yes, Johannes Sleek b. ca 1725 Rotterdam, Netherlands, died ca 1799 Frederick Co, MD and married Margaret Adams is an ancestor of my husband.

He is related by Mary Delilah Slick b. May 30, 1885 who married Samuel Ross Van Allman in 1907 probably in Blair Co, PA.

Mary d/o Daniel Slick b. Sep 21, 1861
Daniel s/o Benjamin Walker Slick b. Dec 20, 1835
Benjamin s/o Samuel Adams Sleek b. Mar 03, 1805
Samuel s/o Jacob Sleek b. 1756
Jacob s/o Johannes Sleek b. 1725

It is said that Benjamin changed his name to Slick when he left the Quakers.

Hi,
I have found lots of information on my Johannes Slick/Sleek/Schlick family who came from the Netherlands and settled in and around Bedford Pa. in the 1700s. I've also discovered that the poet James Whitcomb Riley was related to members of this family who moved to Randolph, County, Indiana. I would be happy to share my information with others and also to find out more, especially anything about the family before they left the Netherlands. The only thing I have found so far is the name Elieas Schlick who I believe stayed in Rotterdam and was the father of the first Johannes.
Sincerely, Susan Davis

You can read the language, it is in the normal 26 letters, but you need a dictionary to understand it. Now I see that you are always sent to the homepage http://www.gemeentearchief.rotterdam.nl/
Hit there stamboomonderzoek. This brings you to another page. Just below the middle of that page is a green area that starts with: Wat vindt u hier? Just below it is the text De Digitale stamboom Click on it. It brings you to a search page.
On that page you can select between dutch and english.
If you really want to do dutch genealogy you need at least a dictionary. Good luck
