I am trying to find the origin of the Lippen family of Roxborough/Manayunk/Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 1790-present accounted for. There may be a Dewees/e connection, possibly via the Rittenhouse family. Do you have any knowledge of this? there was a garret Deweese rooming with George Lippen in a census. (forgot which one-sorry)
Also, were the Deweeses from Amsterdam proper?or a nearby vllage? I have heard there were Lippens in the Tillburg area near the border with Belgium.
Did the Deweese family have anything to do with the Rittenhouse and other paper mills?
Were they Quaker? thanks, Elizabeth Bertch
Thanks for any insights you can provide.
