And now I will go back another generation: Harmannus Stemfoort and Christina van der Sluis.
See what I can come up with.

By the way, all the data I mentioned are verifiable and scans of the original registrations are available. I opted to include only the most relevant, otherwise it will be a very long list! But if you want them, I can provide the links.

I may be slightly neurotic about it, but the one thing I absolutely hate in genealogy, is that information is blindly copied from an online family tree, without verifying anything.
I have seen it many times where different persons have posted a family tree of the same ancestors with exactly the same mistakes or omissions.

Kind regards,
Marianne

again I am overwhelmed, this is more than I could ever have dreamt of. oh yes I know what you mean by blindly copying to family trees. I have found on my fathers side that certain people have been hijacked and tacked on to other peoples trees and if they spent just one minute looking they would see the person doesn't belong. I will spend many pleasant hours adding this information to my tree cheers Christine. by the time poor wouter died his name was walter Stanford, how cruel the british were.

morning berend, I have just noticed you are from Germany. could I ask yet another favour please. on the other side of my family my ggg grandfather was either Charles Frederick heinen or Frederick heinin, born in Niedersachsen, Germany 1826 , married in new Zealand 1852. came to Australia 1854 and died 1903. I would love to know what his real name was because this is all I know and depending on the Australian records his surname is spelt so many different ways and his first name is different which makes research difficult. cheers Christine and again thank you for your time and kindness

Hi Christine,

Here is the info on Wouter's grandparents, Harmanus Stemfoort and Christina van der Sluijs.
I had a very difficult time finding the baptism of Harmanus....

Searching the net he was listed a few times as the son of Jordanus and Annetje Jans Schrijver, born in 1850.
But that didn't sit well with me, since on his death record is stated exactly, to the day, how old he was (68 yrs, 10 months and 27 days). Also, you would expect that he named some of his children after his parents. Searching the baptism records I did come across a Hendrik Lodewijk Stemfoort, married to Oetje van Oudenaarden, but no child Hermanus....

The earliest child of H. L. Stemfoort was baptised in 1862. So I searched back through the baptism records and there was a Wouter, bapt. 1859 as son of Hendrik Lodewijks and Oetje. So no use of the last name Stemfoort!

Going back even further, I found Hermanus as the son of Hendrik Lodewijks and Oetje!

Yeah....

So here he is:

Harmanus (Lodewijk) Stemfoort
