Question about Remich parish registers

In the LDS microfilm library there is a gap in the parish registers of Remich between 1719 and 1768. Does anyone know why?

Did the photographer miss those or are they missing or destroyed?

Is there an alternative route of research for the years 1720-1767 in Remich, Luxembourg?

Thanks

There is an alternate way to research Remich. In 1999, Dr. Kayser Posper and Roger Kayser research and published
a book on Remich von 1668 to 1900, it is called "
Familienchronik Stadt Remich". The book has a short history of the Remich with a few photos.

I think the book is still is still in print. Send me the name
of the family you are researching and I will check my copy of the book.

Thanks. I have heard about that book. It is no longer in print, and there are no copies available. Believe me I tried to find one - even emailed the author (no reply).

I am researching the family name STEPHANY and its variants like STEPHANI, STEPHANE, etc.

Hi John,

Let me make your search easier.

My earliest Remich ancestors are Michel STEPHANY and his wife Maria LUDIG (also spelled LOUDIG and LUDES in some records).

Michel STEPHANY is born approximately 1763 in Remich and may be the son of Nicolas STEPHANY.

Maria LUDIG (also LOUDIG and LUDES) is born approximately 1766

Thanks.

Thanks, John.

It looks like Nicolas STEPHANY was born just after the gap in church records - so it'll be tough looking him up.

I don't suppose the family book gives any further info on his parentage or the source for the info on Nicholas?

Thanks again.
