Hi, I am looking for information on the THEISEN, PEIFFER, HUTTING, LANNERS, and SCHUSTER families, all of which (I believe) emigrated from Luxembourg to Chicago, Illinois, in the late 1800s. Jean Pierre THEISEN had been gardener at the Eiffel Tower before coming to America

I am replying to a very old ('98) message. I am a Theisen descendant starting an interest in searching my fathers family tree. I have very little information. His name is William Frank born approximately in 1920's. Little known of his family except they are from the Chicago, Illinois area. Don't know if this will help you or me but any info is helpful. Thanks.

I have (maybe) a link between the Peiffer family and my family (I'm a Peiffer). My gggrandfather is Franz Peiffer and is originally from Goebingler, Luxembourg. Son of Henry Peiffer and Anna Kohl, born 11/25/1823-Died 12/14/1879, m. Catherine Schumacher on 1/2/1861 in Luxenbourg. I know this is an old message, hope you still check them

I saw your 2004 message and there MIGHT be some connections with my family.
The only information I have about a Peiffer in my family is Catherine Peiffer who was born in April 1853 in "Germany". She married Michael Reith. They lived in Ozaukee county, WI and had several children. I have been trying to trace them. Some stayed in Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties, but others have "disappeared" in the Chicago area.

Michael's sister, Margaretha (born 28 Jan 1841/2 in Essingen/Esingen - died 26 Jan 1924 Milwaukee) married Peter Martin who was born on 19 Nov 1831 in GOEBLANGE, Luxembourg.

Do you think that our families might be connected? I noticed the town you are in and I have relatives still living there.

Do you know that there are Peiffers buried in Holy Cross cemetery in Belgium twp, Ozaukee county? They are Frank and Catherine, Frank and Angela.

I question that Michael was born in Germany because I have reports that his parents were in France/Belgium area. But the borders changed so often that it is confusing to me.

I think there has got to be a connection. Every Peiffer is related (especially in Ozaukee County, WI) I just don't know the connection to Catherine. I have two of them in my tree (that I know of) but the dates don't line up with the dates you gave me. Michael Reith doesn't show up anywhere--but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist. I have a lot of 'holes' the farther I go back.

Do you have any more on Catherine Peiffer? Parents, children? Any connections might help.

As for the Holy Cross residents in the cemetery--those are mine. My grandfather was raised in Holy Cross. If I know the story correct, my great-grandfather Franz Peiffer (from Gobingler, Luxembourg (which I think is actually GOEBLANGE--probably a translation/typo issue) came and settled there. I have relatives on my husband's side that live in that area currently. I need to take the time and visit the cemetery. Might fill in some of those 'holes'!

Keep in touch...thanks for replying.

My Weber family is related to The Peiffer family.

Goeblange (Luxembourgish: Giewel, German: Goeblingen) is a village in the commune of Koerich, in southern Luxembourg about 13 km west of Luxembourg City. As of 2005[update], the village has a population of 425.

My Weber family lived in the village of Goetsingen, which ia
also part of the commune of Koerich. One of the Weber family
members settled in Ozaukee County, WI. my great grandfather settled in Big Springs Township, Seneca County, Ohio in July 1846.

Michel Weber born 1717 was son of Joseph Weber and Johanna Peiffer of Village Of Goetsingen.
