I dont know if anyone has responded. The Russell Library has the Melilli birth, death, marriage records on microfiche. There is also a room devoted to early immigrants. If you live in Ct. It's worth visit. Also, check other ports of entry such as philadelphia, Boston, and Baltimore.

My great-grandfather came from Canicattini Bagni. His name was Emanuele RANDAZZO-born about 1890. He immigrated to the US and eventually settled in Middletown, CT. He married Rosina LA ROSA about 1914. They and their family returned to Sicily about 1926/27 and returned permanently to Middletown, CT between 1936 and 1937. I'm looking for information about his parents. I believe his father's name was Girolamo RANDAZZO and his mother's first name was Rosalia. I believe her surname to be possibly MICENO? Any information is appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, I finally did it. I have mapped EVERY DiMare from Augusta Sicily back to the 1700's. And yes, we are all related. The common ancestor was Francesco DiMare born in the early 1700's. In actuality, te original name is Mari according to census records, and the two sons who then spawned the rest o the DiMares were referre to at DiMari...which then morphed in later years....both DiMari and DiMare were use interchangeably. Please see www.augusta-genealogy.info for the tree.

I am looking for Fisicaro relatives within Siracusa. My great great grandfather Giuseppe Fisicaro was born in Cassaro which is 45 minutes from Siracusa. He had cousins spread out within Siracusa. Giuseppe had two brothers named Michael and Salvatore. Giuseppe ended up living in Philadelphia and his children changed the name to Fiscaro (they dropped the "E").

Here's what I know, or I think I know.
My Nana (great grandmother) was Sebastiana or Sebastianeta (little Sebastiana) born 1896. She came with her sisters Nunziata and Anna from Carlentini in 1914. On the Ellis Island records it says that they are going to stay with her brother, Sebastiano or maybe Antonio in Omaha.
My Nana married Pasquale Fanciullo born 1891 or 1892, who is said to be her first cousin (which explains a lot about my colorful Sicilian family).
Sebastiana and Pasquale had their first son, Guiseppe, in 1917 in Omaha.
From the 1940 census records it seems that they had Americanized their names; Sebastianeta became Nettie, Pasqualle became Frank, and Guiseppe became James.
So “Nettie” and “Frank” had the following children, all born in Omaha.
1917 Guiseppe “James”
1921 Sebastino “Subby”
1924 Joe
1927 Nancy (I wonder if this was Americanizing Nunziata)
1930 Concettina “Tina”
1934 Sam

I remember visiting my great Nano and Nana in Omaha in the summer of 1967 (or maybe 66 or 68, I was really little). I remember that although they both lived a couple of houses away from each other, and both came to see their parents every day, my aunt Nancy and aunt Tina did not speak to each other for years.

James Fanciullo married Josephine “Josie” Nigro and moved to Los Angeles. They had two kids, my mom, Nettie Ann born 1942, and my uncle Frank.

I know this post is outdated and don't know if you will see my reply. There are now church records online for the town of Sortino. I found death records for some of your ancestors among them.

Giuseppe Cannamela, the son of deceased Luigi Cannamela and Francesca Calafiore, died in Sortino on Aug 17, 1932 (church record #127) at the age of 75. He was the husband of Vincenza Rizzo. (on familysearch.org, it is image 108 of 274 with the church death records for Sortino which include this year).

Vincenza Rizzo died on May 26, 1937 (church record #73) at the age of 85. She was the daughter of deceased Vincenzo Rizzo and deceased Vincenza Gurciullo. She was the wife of Giuseppe Cannamela.

We are trying to break through a genealogy brick wall and find our grandfather's family; originally thought that he was born in Syracuse New York of Italian immigrants in 1904...but recently determined that it was the wrong Syracuse...should have been Siracusa Sicily. The name stayed spelled as Perasco in the U.S., but also believed it was misspelled...Parasco, Peraisco, Peraiscio? Anyone encounter those names in their family trees?

I am looking for information on Giuseppe Uccello, born sometime around 1850-1860 in Canicattini Bagni. His wife was Santa Cultrera. Giuseppe's sister Emanuela married Santa's brother Paolo. I was able to find Santa and Paolo's death records on Ancestry, but I have not been able to find Giuseppe or Emanuela's. Giuseppe seemingly died sometime after 1930 while Emanuela died sometime before 1920. I can't seem to find any information on Giuseppe or Emanuela and would appreciate any help in discovering the names of their parents. Thanks.

Anthony Mansolillo

He was the son of Salvatore Tine' and Sebastiana Pappalardo. He had a brother, Concetto Tine' who immigrated to the US (Lawrence, Mass.) Sebastiano died in Siracusa in 1906. His wife and children all came to the US. I'm interested in finding out more about siblings and parents of Sebastiano Tine'.

Jay, the LDS church is now uploading transcriptions of the microfilm to the internet. Siracusa is not yet uploaded (as of last week when I last checked). However, I've used their microfilms to trace my Cosentino line back to 1754. They do not provide them to individuals, but do rent them out to local LDS Family History Centers. Find one closest to you and ask the folks there to help you locate the films you want and order them from SLC. It takes about a week to get them. You can 'rent' them by the 15-day period or on the 3rd rental, they are considered on permanent loan and the History Center keeps them on file.

This Bette Constantino. (I am Julie Bartholomew's mother).

My grandmother was born in Carlintini, Sicily in 1889. Her name was Maria M. Miloni. We are doing a family tree and would certainly like to have more information about Maria.

She came to America in 1908 with her sister Nunziatha.

Her parents were Luciano Miloni and Alfia Tribulato. We would like to know who her other relatives were.

Any information would be appreciated!

Thank you, Bette Constantino Kavalec
