LDS is Latter Day Saints (Mormon) and they have libraries all over the USA and only charge to rent the film. You do not have to belong to use them. Here is a link to their home page http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/default.asp and if you click on the tool bar at the top on Search you can look for you family that is indexed already but they have many more films that they are now putting on cds and more that they are in the process of filming.
