My grandfather, Luigi Zoano (Louis Zaino) was born on March 12, 1890 in Montalto Uffugo, Cosenza, Calabria. His mother left him on the doorstep of an orphanage. Supposedly he was given his surname at the orphanage. The Fuscaldo family never adopted him legally, but they took him in and he kept the Zaino last name. At the same time, the Fuscaldo family also took in another infant, supposedly born about the same time as my grandpa. I don't have any information about this other infant, except in his later years he lived in South America.
I am trying to trace the Fuscaldo family. I don't have any information as to their names, etc. I do know that they had a biological son, Frank Fuscaldo, born July 27, 1894 in Belsito, Cosenza, Calabria. Frank immigrated to the U.S. and when he filled out his WWI and WWII draft registration, he stated that left his mother, father, brother and sister in the old country.
If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Mary Lou
