Hi Everyone! Following is the answer I received from another fellow I emailed rearding Reali Saline.
Le Reali Saline (salina is a place near the sea where salt is obtained by
drying sea water; reale means owned by the King) are near Margherita di
Savoia. They still make salt. The name you gave me indicated
in the 1800 the village now called Margherita di Savoia nearby the saline.
In the first half of the
1800 King Ferdinando II di Borbone moved most of the people living there
in the new built village San Ferdinando di Puglia (this was because of the
malary. This is what I know. Perhaps the best thing is to contact people
living in Margherita di Savoia and San Ferdinando.Search on "google"
for these two names.
Giuseppe
It would appear by Giuseppe's reply that there probably once was a community name Reali Saline that no longer exists - and the area is now comprised of the towns of Margherita di Savoia, and San Ferdinando. Giuseppe, by his verbiage, would appear to be from Italy, so maybe we have found the answer now - what do you think?
