FIENL 1700 1748 Massachusetts, E. - U.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my research efforts regarding one EDWARD FINEL I wish to communicate with anyone researching the surname of FINEL that might have someone, or know of someone, who would have been in the Massachusetts U.S.A. area in the time period of 1700 to 1748. This man EDWARD FINEL 1, we believe had ancestry from France and was probably Christen Baptized named EDWARD, or his father was at this time. Because this man birthed a son named EDWARD FINEL; born 27 October 1748 in Massachusetts and because of the naming patterns in the U.S.A. at that time period he could have been named for his father, or his grandfather.

It is not known at this time in my researching if the first FINEL immigrated to the U.S.A., or if he might have been part of a military unit stationed in or near Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. I have been unable to determine any information relative to this man; birth, country of origin, death, or whatever.

The lady we believe to be the mother of his child could have also been a friend or relative of the real mother. Although, there are indicator’s that this lady was his mother in some of my findings.

Thank you

Hi Cousin!!
I am Larry's daughter and Teila's grand daughter. My dad sends his hello's. We live in Reno, Nv. It is so nice to hear from you. My father and I have been researching Opapo's line for some time. We have some unanswered questions about the line and extened families. It could also be that there may somethings we don't understand. I was encouraged to seek out more information online and discovered this message board.
I heard a story from family that the name Fonoimoana was Fonokimoana. For some reason the "k" was taken out. Is that when you write that Fonoimoana is a tongan name?? The name "Saulu" is the real name and Afualo is a title name?? These are just a few questions that we have had during our research.
Thank you for your email and your time.
Aloha, Larri-Anne Fonoimoana

My name is Larri Fonoimoana. Our Fonoimoana name started from my great grandfather Opapo Fonoimoana who was from Fogatuli, Savaii. Our family records have a Fonokimoana man who marries Manutafea Su'a and has Laulu who has Saulu then comes Opapo.
Have any Fonokimoana's traveled to Samoa? I am looking for any kind of information.
Mahalo, Larri Fonoimoana

Hi VVYEN

My great grandfather is George Ambrose Smith who migrated to Samoa. He married Tafaogalupe Julianna Smith (nee Pio). He was previously married and had a few childen but Im not too sure of their names. However, he had 6 children with my grandmother Tafaogalupe. Their names are Ben, Helen, Anna who is my grandmother, Jane Vaimoana, Frank and Maulupe August.

I see you posted this a few years ago but its great too see that some of the Smith family names have been passed down through the generations.

Hope you have more information about our family!
Fonokimoana was the name in Samoa. When the immigration papers were filed, the clerk left out the K. When Opapo disovered it, it was time to leave for Hawaii and they had already waited for about 6 years. So, he said they were not going to wait another 6 years. Story came from Malia Fonoimoana, youngest daughter of Toa Fonoimoana and Line.

Don't have any info on his parents. He was married to my grandmother Sela Tupou Vave. She was the daughter of Uikilifi Vea and Sisilia Ve'eono. I am hoping to find more info on my great grandparents also.

She married my Great Grand Father Ernest Wendt around the 1870s.

There is a strong possibility that your Grand Dad Mr Benjamin Ambrose Schmidt (Smith)was my Great Grand Mothers Brother.

Regards

Hi I am very excited to get your email. My grandfather is Teila Fonoimoana and his father is Opapo Fonoimoana from the village of Fogatuli. Opapo's father was Saulu. Now Saulu had two wives 1. Malia Toa (This is the line that I come from) and 2. Faleipola
Saulu & Malia Toa had six children:
Opapo, Gia Tua, Vaolo, To'oto'o, Poutoa, & Pila

Saulu & Faleipola had six children: Vasalola,Tuileva,Fogatuli,Tua'a,Utu & Pelesasa. Are any of these names familliar? I hope that we can find a connection between our families.
Thank you Larri
Howzit Uncle and Cousin.

I have heard the same story. You have some Afualos and Felys here in So. Utah. My name is Vaitogi Fely. My Grandmother is Talalelei Fonoimoana. I stayed with Malia M Soloman for about a year and I feel so lucky to be a part of our family. The most information I got was when we were just sitting about talking story. Hanging out with one of our matriarchs for a year was a great thing for me culturally. My father sent me there to "meet my roots." I have Some auntis and my Grandmother on video talking story if you are interested. I am a nurse and a Deputy Sheriff here in southern Utah. There is a Dan Afualo here as well. I just went to a Kahuku vs. Bingham football game in Cedar City Utah and it was POLY CENTRAL. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. I met some of Teila's children at a Family reunion in Azuza a few years back- Since then I named one of my children Teila after your dad. It is important to keep Hula, Polynesian food, and Polynesian traditions in our homes (Fa'a Samoa)except maybe the lickings (I took my share and about two generations as well).
Tofa, Vaitogi Fely

Hi

My name is Alisi Heilala Manu, I'm Kiti Palahame's eldest daughter. I was shock when I was just playing on the computer and find this website about dad's family. I'm 28 years old, I got married in August 2006. My brother Epalahame is 23 and still single. We live in Melbourne because dad is buried here. I would love to know more about granddad's family and where he comes from. One day I just might go to Wallis Is.

God Bless everyone
Alisi
