My mother, Anna, (deceased) was born in the Wallis & Futuna Islands around 1906. To the best of my knowledge here father was Benjamin Ambrose Schmidt (Smith) and mother Vaimoana. Some of her siblings were George who migrated to Western Samoa, Emma (to NZ), John, Ben, Fred (to Fiji), Helen (to Fiji) and Anna (to Fiji).
Grateful for any information to assist me in developing a family tree.
Many Thanks.

My Great Grand Mother was Elizabeth Schmidt(Smith)a daughter of a German/American Copra Trader in Wallis & Futuna around the mid 1800s to 1900s. She married my Great Grand Father Ernest Wendt around the 1870s.
There is a strong possibility that your Grand Dad Mr Benjamin Ambrose Schmidt (Smith)was my Great Grand Mothers Brother.

Hi VVYEN
My great grandfather is George Ambrose Smith who migrated to Samoa. He married Tafaogalupe Julianna Smith (nee Pio). He was previously married and had a few childen but Im not too sure of their names. However, he had 6 children with my grandmother Tafaogalupe. Their names are Ben, Helen, Anna who is my grandmother, Jane Vaimoana, Frank and Maulupe August.
I see you posted this a few years ago but its great too see that some of the Smith family names have been passed down through the generations.
Hope you have more information about our family!

Hi uncle Vernon, Tima991's grandmother is the one that papa named after your mother :-) just did a google search to find a photo of an uncle that have just passed away (uncle Maulupe August) and came across this on google. Mama actually had 8 children with papa George (Ben, Helen, Juliana, Anna, Jane, Frank, Maulupe and Ambrose who is one of papa's oldest daughters son but he was looked after by papa and mama). That's the 8 children there. There are still 3 of papa's children from his previous marriage to a Purcell lady who are still alive (Posui, Marie and Stella).
Much alofa family.
