Re: Harriet family of Saint Pierre
Your info: And by the way, her name was ELISE! , not Elsie!
HARRIET, Martin (Pierre & Madeleine Haristay) born Hendaye, FR 30 May 1819 NOEL, Elise (Edouard & Marguerite Gauvreau) widow of Jean Arraitz born Havre-aux-Maisons (Magdalen Is.), QC 28 Aug 1814 (bapt Havre-Aubert (Magdalen Is.), QC 17 Sep 1815) married St-Pierre 14 Feb 1848
Edouard Noel (Edouard & Elizabeth Noel of Jersey Island) & Marguerite Gauvreau (François & Marguerite Parent) were married in Quebec City on 2 May 1797.
That's all I have at present.

Re: Harriet family of Saint Pierre
Thank You Dennis for sharing. I was told by the family that Elise NOEL was possibly born in Quebec & Martin HARRIET was born in France. The family did not know for sure. It was just passed by word of mouth, down through their generations.
It's been very helpful.

Re: Harriet family of Saint Pierre
According to the 1877 census of St-Pierre, Edward (or Edouard) was the son of Martin and Elise Noel (from the above post). Here is the 1877 listing (in French); their son Edward is still listed as "single" (celibataire) in 1877; his brother also living in the same household, Joseph is already married to Helen Wicking (sic, for Whittle?)
1877 census of St-Pierre rue Joinville (street), no. 59 – 31 mars 1877. SC 3472.
ans = years old marie(e) = married, ne(e) = born a St-Pierre = at St-Pierre a l'etranger = born elsewhere (in Elise's case, the Magdalen Islands)
sait lire et écrire = can read and write ne sait lire ni ecrire = can't read or write catholique = Roman Catholic faith
There you have it. Hope this is clear.

Re: Harriet family of Saint Pierre
Hi I am looking for a link on Rene Emile Harriete born in Hendaye in 1900 (birth date) I have searched all sites to no avail. He married Marrianne Nefdt and fathered children in SA Marceline, Delphine & Neville. He list Hendaye as his birth place and year on their records. Tx

Re: Harriet family of Saint Pierre
Unfortunately, the records of Hendaye online only go up to 1893. You would have to write to the Archives departementales des Pyrénées-Atlantique or to the mairie/town hall in Hendaye to get the record. It should be free but a monetary donation might get you your information much quicker. If you do this by mail, enclose a couple of International Reply Coupons to assure postage back to you. If you do it via e-mail, the Archives might understand English; if you can translate your request into French (via Google translate), that too would be more helpful.
