I was wondering if there would have been a death record recorded for a child who died directly after birth. The child (a boy) was born Jan 8 1887 to Serafino and Giuseppa Manfredonia in Marseilles France and died the same day. I was trying to find out if they gave him a name or not. Thanks.

Here's the translation that a kind member sent me of the birth record.

baby that was either stillborn or died shortly after birth, which I'm attaching. It basically says that on 8 January 1887 at nine o'clock in front of the Registrar of Vital Records appeared Seraphin Manfredonia, age 30, a driver living at 217 Grand Chemin d'Aix, and Antoine Casanove, age 53, a pensioner residing at 1 rue Paseo, who presented a lifeless male child, son of the first declarant and Josephine Valerio, age 27, married and living in the home, and they declared that the child left the womb of the mother at two yesterday afternoon. The act was read to the declarants and all signed.

This is a combined birth and death record, which is common for infants that are stillborn or die on the same day as their birth. Two separate documents were not necessary. --- Had the infant lived for a day or two, then died (not on the same day as birth), you would always find a separate acte de décès.
