Actually, the Y is there to indicate dead (Yes) because some genealogy software will say a person is 200 yrs old or something if nothing is placed in that slot. Unfortunately, there just happens to be a French village by that name. When the info is placed online, the info indicates that a bunch of your ancestors (and some of mine) went to France to die. ( I used to think perhaps there was a spa there or something.)
