If anyone can tell me anything about this person. He is my grandfather but we know nothing about him except he was born in Isle of Pines New Caledonia in 1899, died Sydney NSW 1976 (I think). He served in Australian Army (or navy) in WWII, but I'm looking for his ancestry. Rumour that his mother was German named Stuhl but who knows??? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME "Si vous ple!!!"

Hi and thanks for looking.

These are my grandparents and there seems to be some mystery as to Alphonse's real birthplace and year. Seems he changed the dates and places to get into the army in WWI and II, to be older for the first and younger for the second as well as his place of birth to be considered an Australian citizen I would imagine. He didn't give much away in his life so that's why he's the hardest to find.

When you say I can get a copy from them, who is "them" and how can I go about this?

Many thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa
I work with the NSW Trustee and Guardian in NSW Australia and we are administering the estate of Jacques Bousser, who may be a son of Henri.
Could you please advise the name of your parents please?

Thank you for this, just seeing it now, sorry....yes he was a sneaky bugger, but Isle of Pines is where he was born and 1899 is correct, he put his age back so he could serve in WW2 and put his age fwd to serve in WW1 (I think** must ask mum again) EDNA BROWN nee Clausen was my nana and Henri my pop on my mother's side....

This is why he's been so hard to find and the last of the mysteries in my family...as he never talked about his past and he was always stretching the truth to suit himself...not the nicest of characters according to my mother but still her father and my grandfather nonetheless....family research has a way of bringing all those old skeletons out of the cupboard.....historical detectives we are - thank you again.....i'm so outa touch with ancestry.com..if i want the records how do i go about it?
