Surnames: Boutary/Saunier
I am seeking any and all info on Antoine Boutary b circa 1729, possibly later then earlier. He was expelled from Acadia in 1755 to Chatellerault France with his wife Marie Saunier. They eventually ended up in Lafourche Louisiana in 1785. He states he is from Querci France. After poking a bit, I think it is an old province in the Midi-Pyrenees. I am unsure when he left France or if he was alone. i am most especially interested in parentage and sibs or any suggestions on how to search online for more on him Any help is welcomed and most appreciated

This might help you:
http://records.ancestry.com/Antoine_Boutary_records.ashx?pid...

And this is your lucky day:
http://froux.pagesperso-orange.fr/divers/histoire.htm
There are three pages where your Antoine Boutary is mentioned:
In 1763, some Acadians who had been deported to England were sent back to France (click on "l'Esturgeon").
In 1775, the families who had settled in Chatellerault were transfered to Nantes, Antoine is listed in the third convoy.
Finally, in 1785, they boarded "le Saint Remi" to Louisiana.

A million thanks. I am most interested in the link you sent Les Acadians. The first I am proud to say is my info on ancestry. I have seen passenger lists previously from France to Acadia, but this one is much more extensive. There is a name that intrigues me Francois Baudry, as it mimics the way my grandmother pronounced her maiden name - Boot-tree. The names spelling seems to have changed as so many has. There is several areas I will explore on the link. I thank you so very much for your time and help, it is SO appreciated.

Hello,

Antoine BOUTARY is supposed to be born according to Ancestry.com records "in 1745 Lagrade, Anse, France" and dead on the 13 Feb 1833, probably in Lafourche (Louisiana).
Do you have this death certificate ?

I think his birth place is not written correctly ; I suppose it's rather Lagarde. And "Anse" does not correspond to any French departement or region.

You're right, Quercy is an ancient region situated in Midi-Pyrenees region, covering several nowadays departements :
_ Lot ;
_ half north of Tarn-et-Garonne ;
_ some towns of Dordogne, Corrèze and Aveyron.

You can find help for généalogie in Quercy in these mailings lists :

to join the webmaster : genealogie_agenais_quercy-owner@yahoogroupes.fr

http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/GeneLot/
to join the webmaster : GeneLot-owner@yahoogroupes.fr

When you will be able to situate precisely the town from which Antoine Boutary was from, and if it's a town in the Lot, the registers are on line at :

good luck

First thank you so very much for your time. Yes, I believe the Antoine that died in 1833 is his son Paul Hypolite. I do not yet have a death certificate for either of them, but have contacted the church cemetery they are supposed to be buried in. I hope to them in the near future. On the Wall of Names Memorial to the Acadians exiled to LA, it states he is from Querci or Quercy. You have given so very much to start on, thank you SO much. I have never been able to locate any Boutarys in Acadia, but I know he was there. As he was exiled to the prison camp in Liverpool. This is the first appearance of him and he is already married. The name is now spelled Bouterie and I have found very little on him. I think it is because in comparison to the other large Acadian families is small. All of the Bouteries descend from him in LA. Again many thanks, I am stymied as to where to go and your assistance and links looks to be quite promising

It's true that 1745-1833 is a very long period, it's probably his son, 88 years old is very very old at that period but not impossible.
You will know when you'll get the birth certificate of 1833.

I don't know on which document the record of Ancestry.com found that Antoine was from "Lagrade, Anse". It will be very interesting you manage to find the document that states that because it's probably a bad transcription that a French can correct.

Good luck

I am so excited for you help and thank you. After speaking with a man about church records yesterday, I found the church I was seeking records from wasn't in existence when Antoine likely died. But fast forward, I discovered which was in area and was told the old records have been turned into books. Which are available at local libraries and hopefully one is in mine. SO i may be able to get more info soon. I think I will wait until I check the book's info before I write the lady. I am so grateful for your kind guidance Thank you
