Hello,
I might shed some light on Jean-Pierre GOUZY parentage as I've found his marriage with Henriette CURTENAZ in Lyon (departement of Rhône, #69) on February 18, 1829.
Here are the main informations it contains:
---
. Date: February 18, 1829 - 10 a.m.
. Place: Lyon
. Groom: Jean Pierre GOUZY (written GOUZI by the registrar but he signs himself GOUZY), born on 14 Brumaire an XI (= November 5, 1802) in Pamiers (departement of Ariège, #09), tailor, living in Lyon, rue Grenette. Legitimate and of age son of Baptiste GOUZY & Jeanne AMARDEIL, both deceased, his grandparents being also deceased.
. Bride: Henriette CURTENAZ, born on November 9, 1802 in Challonges (in Savoie, nowadays departement of Haute-Savoie, #74), also living in Lyon, rue Grenette. Of age and legitimate daughter of Pierre CURTENAZ, farmer & Françoise GUILLERMIN, deceased.
. The father of the bride agreed to this marriage by a deed recorded on January 2, 1829 at the office of Mr. DUMAREST, notary in Seyssel (departement of Ain).
. Witnesses:
1) Julien PERROTEAU, aged 30, tailor merchant, living in Lyon, rue Luiterme
2) Antoine BAVIN, aged 30, same occupation, living in Lyon, rue Sirène
3) Jean FOURNEL, aged 33, ? merchant, living Petite rue Longue
4) Jean Marie TRÉBOUVILLE, aged 26, tailor, living rue de Bessard
witnesses who all declared that it is well known the husband's grandparents are all dead and signed with him, the wife not knowing how to.

You'll find a copy of this record in attachment, which came from the on-line municipal archives of Lyon (
http://www.archives-lyon.fr/archives/sections/fr/archives_en...).
Unfortunately for you, the Ariège archives are not yet on-line (still being digitalized) and though some of Haute-Savoie are already available, Challonges is not among them. :(
Yet, I've found that the wife parents married in 1796 in Challonges from this association data:
http://www.cgsavoie.org/geneabank.htmlTo go further for now, you could use one of these mutual-aid services:
- France GenWeb:
http://www.francegenweb.org/~entraide/accueil_france.phpA free benevolent genealogical mutual aid service to get a copy of a certificate you can't find on-line for events over 100 years ago (green means the departement is available)
- Le Fil d'Ariane:
http://www.entraide-genealogique.net/index_france.phpAnother free benevolent genealogical mutual aid service (this time the expected color is dark blue)
/!\ read carefully the explanations for BOTH websites before sending your request, there are some restrictions (use
http://translate.google.fr/#fr|en| if necessary but fill in the original form).
Alternatively, you may order microfilmed copies of the French records at your nearest LDS family history center (
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp).

PS: the right spelling for the other town near Challonges is Chêne-en-Semine. ;)
