Dear J. Aubuchon...#1946:
Yes, I have an idea.
In my researching my gr. grandmother's line, Adelia Matilda Obeshaw WING b. 1866, St. Ignace, Mackinac Co. Midh. north side of the Straits of Mackinac from where Fr. Marquette explored the Mississippi River in 1671.
My findings are that Jean Aubuchon b. 1591 was visited by one of his two sons [Jacques b. 1617]* from Montreal, Quebec, Can. prior to Jean's death in La Rochelle, FR. not that far from the village of Aubusson in old Aqutain province in southern Fr., where the family had been Vicomtes.
I can not say is where he was born but with many Aubuchon's coming from this area it appears to be a good place to start looking. We hope this summer to visit the village of Aubusson after my wife visits her kin in northern Italy.
