Courtot, Pacot, Rosselot of Andelnans in Belfort Territory
I would like to correspond with anyone researching the names Courtot, Pacot, Rosselot just to name a few who lived in and around the Andelnans area in the Territory of Belfort in Franche-Comte. My ancestor Joseph Courtot settled in Clermont County Ohio in 1846. His uncle Jean Claude Courtot was the maire of Andelnans and also his grandfather Jean Claude Courtot the older who was married to Ann Eve Pacot. I hope to find people who still live in Andelnans who could help me perhaps with photos of the area and I also would like to know if there exists portraits or photos of past maires of Andelnans and if so how would I get a copy of one. The Rosselot family connects by Marie Theraise Rosselot who m. Jean Claude Courtot the younger and their son Francois Courtot (known as Francis or Frank in U.S.) Francis Courtot and his cousin, my grgrandfather Joseph both came to Ohio together and Henri Rosselot was already there. Henri would have been the uncle of Francis. Thank You Roberta Whitacre Also some other Courtot names are Etienne Courtot, father of Jean Claude the elder and Nicholas Courtot

Hello,
Just out of interest I have a ROSSELOT Marie-Thérèse who married my great great grand-father Jean Louis FRIOT, I don't know if there is connection with yours. Here are the data :
ROSSELOT Marie-Thérèse born on 9 Feb.1829 in Vourvenans (at that time département du Haut-Rhin, now Doubs, but not far from Territoire de Belfort). Died on 7 April 1888 in Audincourt, Doubs.
FRIOT Jean Louis born on 21 April 1829 in Audincourt, Doubs. Died on 5 April 1871, in Audincourt, Doubs.
They married on 6 Dec. 1851 in Audincourt, Doubs
Best regards,
Michel Friot

Re: Courtot, Pacot, Rosselot of Andelnans in Belfort Territory
As far as the Rosselot connection goes I am quite sure there is a connection somewhere. I do have a history here of the Henry Rosselot family by Carol Marquett Glover and Virginia Cook Marquett. They researched their direct ancestor Henry Rosselot who was the son of Jacques Rosselot and Suzanne Blanc. Henry was b. in 1798 in Andelnans and died 1882 in Owensville Ohio. My grgrf, Joseph Courtot and his cousin Francis Courtot came to Ohio in 1846 from France. Francis' parents were Jean Claude Courtot and Marie Theraise Rosselot. I will have to look further to find the connection but I will try. Do you know who your Marie Therese Rosselot's parents were?
I have many ancestors from the different towns in the Belfort Territory.

My grandmother's family was from Owensville, ohio. Tess Rosselot. She died though when my dad was 5 years old. I am trying to find pictures and a little history on her and her family. Thanks...

Re: Courtot, Pacot, Rosselot of Andelnans in Belfort Territory
Not sure if this will help, but Pierre Henri (Henry) Rosselot is my maternal ggg-grandfather. I haven't found information on Suzanne Blanc's line, but Jacques' father is Justi Rosselot (1730-?) & mother is Magdalena Mouillesaux (1731-1790) both of the Belfort Territory area. They had 4 other children besides Jacques...

Re: Courtot, Pacot, Rosselot of Andelnans in Belfort Territory
Hello, I've just stumbled upon this post while trying to find more information on the origin of my family, the Friot's. My line on Friot's descends from Friot's who settled parts of Quebec as well as Friot ancestors who arrived in America in the early 1700's sailing from Rotterdam, Holland. I've heard many rumors that the Friot's were either dutch or french, and was hoping you could maybe provide some insight on their origin. Thanks,
Austin Friot.

I really do not know the French my grandfather did unfortunately; they all wanted to be Americanized but I sure wish they would have taught us the language but I can see what I can find out. I do check some French sites so maybe I can find that way; if so I will contact you or you can contact me within a few days. RJ
