I have been working with the Tollinche family genealogy for the past 10 years. All the documents I have viewed and analyzed at the Registres Departamentales in Bastia, Corsica and at the City Hall in Oletta, Corsica establish that the family surname was written TOLLINCHE. According to my investigations the oldest records I have found date back to Giovan Stefano Tollinche born in 1755 in Oletta. The family name changed in some cases to the Tollinchi form due to spelling mistakes made during the process of registration of birth, baptism, marriage, death and immigration records when the surname was written phonetically. Also, due to the similarity between the letters "e" and "i". My genealogical research results of the TOLLINCHE family was published in 2008 and presented a the annual meeting of the RHFC (Recherce sur l"Histoire des Familles Corses in Pietranera, Corsica.
