Dear Greg:
10 years have gone by so I hope you have changed your mind. Where are you from?
I am so sorry your knowledge about Puerto Rico is so limited and stereotyped.
The thing of being a mix of native, black and Spaniards is an insult to our diversity.
FYI to this day there are more than 500,000 descendants from Corsican immigrants. Corsicans had a huge impact in Puerto Rico's economy and developement. To this day descendants still meet and preserve Corsican culture.
I am Puertorican and guess what! I do have confirmed native blood and Spaniard (African as well for sure just have not found a specific ancestor yet) but also have Corsican, French, Portuguese and counting.
Many of the Spaniards that came here brought Jew, gypsy and Muslim blood as well. We also received a HUGE amount of Portuguese immigrants that have been ignored because they were thought Spaniards (for many reasons) many to this day ignore they descend from Portuguese and not Spaniards. We also received a considerable amount of French (not Corsicans) immigrants who settled in the mountains (to this day inhabitants say it with pride). Italians of course came as well. We also had a lower flow of Austrian and German immigrants as well.

Going back to Corsica, Puerto Rico have so much in common with Corsica is amazing. Even the political status is particularly similar.Corsica has been an ancestral melting pot check out all the races that have walked that land!!!

Sadly the department of education wants to narrow our ancestors and sell the 3 races slogan.
Limiting our genetic pool to 3 races is extremely close minded.

If you are interested in Corsican influence in the new world Puerto Rico es the place to research.

Greg
Hate to burst your bubble, but many Corsicans went to Puerto Rico and are now most definitely included in the mix of Spaniards, African, and Indigenous. Maybe you won't liken the Corsicans to Puerto Ricans, but we are very proud to include Corsican into the mix of our family.

Proudly,
Cynthia Velazquez Sanchez Fraticelli Rodriguez

Bel Bel,

Thank you for your reply to Greg. We have been doing some digging around the Fraticelli line for quite some time now since there is a lot of documentation compared to our other family lines.
