Hi again Valerie,
To get further, you'll need a copy of the marriage record which hopefully will give you his parents name:
Place: Aire (ancient name) parish Saint-Pierre, in the departement of Pas-de-Calais (#62)
Date: February 9, 1751
Spouses: BROCQUEVIELLE Jean François & NOEL Marie Joseph
These archives were microfilmed by the LDS, so if you're living near a LDS center (http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhc/frameset_fhc.asp
) you can try doing the research yourself by ordering a copy of the microfilm there.
Alternatively, you may use one of these 2 free genealogical mutual aid services, they'll just ask you to pay for stamps and photocopy fees if you want a paper copy. Just read carefully the rules before sending your application (if needed, use http://translate.google.fr/#fr|en
| to get a look at the translation before filling the original form):
- Le Fil d'Ariane : http://www.entraide-genealogique.org/index_france.php
(wait till the departement (#62) is dark blue, otherwise it's unavailable).
- FranceGenWeb : http://www.francegenweb.org/~entraide/accueil_france.php
(same, but the color expected is green)
Let me know if you need additional help. :)
PS: You'll find at http://fournetmarcel.free.fr/genealogielemaire.htm
marriage indexes for Aire (now called Aire-sur-la-Lys) for parishes Notre-Dame & St. Pierre but the latter are only from 1600 to 1750. However keep the address in your bookmarks, it might be useful in the future! ;)
