My Great Grandfather, Gerome Cloarec and his wife Marie (Le pennic), came over to Canada in 1912 from Brittany France (La Gonnet). There is a few Cloarec's in Canada. We were trying to find out our roots. If you have anything you can tell us please let me know.

Scott, I would be interesting in knowing more about your family to see if we could be related somehow. Your Grandfather Gerome came from the same area of France (Brittany,Langonnet) as my Grandfather John Cloarec. What area of Canada do you live in? We are mostly all out in BC. My Grandfather raised his family in Kennedy Sask., then they all moved to BC later. Do you know who your Great Grandfather was? This is where we could make a connection to our families. My Great Grandfather's name was Francois (Frank) Cloarec, but other than his name know little more about him.

I think that our great grandfathers were brothers. My Grandpa said that his dad and uncle came to Canada. One stayed here is Saskatchewan (Prince Albert), and the other went to B.C. (Cranbrook, Skookumchuk area)
If you are interested I have some contacts in Brittany and (I can't remember the name) in some British Islands just off of France's northern coast. Apparently there are quiet a few Cloarecs there in the English channel. Let me know.

Yes I would interested in the contacts you have on the Cloarec's in Brittany. Also I have made contact with one of the Cloarec boys (Kevin) from Cranbrook area, he used to work at Pulmill in MacKenzie just north of Prince George. I met him one night at a resturant and we compared the spelling of our last names to confirm the cloarec name was the same. He now lives in Campbell River BC. I'm assuming you are living in Prince Albert, Sask. Could you tell me more about your Grandfather and father, their first names. You say your Great Grandfather's name was Gerome, I have seen this name before, I will try and remember where and get back to you.

Hello,
I have just come across your message written a long time ago , it seems, regarding your great grandfather "le cloarec from Brittanny.
I think the village/ town "la Gonnet" is probably "Langonnet". I come from "Roudouallec- Gourin" which is the next village.
We are probably related but my father was "le Cloarec " also, but it is a very common name in the area. Sometimes the "le" is also ommitted and makes researc more difficult.

Bonne Chance!
