Berthier - Tournus, Saône-et-Loire - 1850s?

Surnames: Berthier
First, let me apologize since I cannot speak French. I am trying to find any information on my 3rd great grandfather and his family. I know my third great grandfather's name is
Jean Baptiste Berthier and he had a daughter named Eugenia. I have read she was born in Tournus in 1854 and they came to Louisiana a few years later.

I have a decent amount of information on Eugenia from later in life, as she entered a convent and became a nun. Her adult life is very well documented, but I'd love to be able to find any records about her family before coming to the states.

Searching through other information, I found a Jean Baptiste Berthier who arrived in New Orleans in February of 1859... but there are no other Berthiers on the passenger list. If this is him, I assume this may have been a second trip, as I think the family arrived in 1856.

If anyone has any idea of websites where I might be able to do more research on families from this part of France, it would be extremely helpful...

Thank you!

I found her birth record but her name on it is Jeanne Berthier. I've attached a copy but it is difficult to read because the handwriting is so small. It says she was born 22 March 1854 in Tournus to Jean Baptiste Berthier, age 30 and a baker, and Marguerite Cadot age 22. So far I haven't been able to find anything else about Jean Baptiste or Marguerite but I'll do some more searching.

Cheers,

Soosi
