As a matter of fact, I am the great grand child of the Sansaricq who went to Cuba with two sons: Eduardo and Justo Sansaricq Chávez. His name was Éduardo Sansaricq Schelot. He went to Cuba after his wife died in the then called Saint Domingue; he took a second wife in Limonar, Cuba: Aurora Canes Saint-Amand, daughter of French people established in Cuba. They had 11 children; the oldest one my paternal grand mother: Julia Sansaricq Canes who married in 1873 to my grand father, Mariano Martín Prieto, born in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
Julia died in 1931 and Mariano in 1917 They had eleven children, the second one (born in 1875) was my father, Eduardo, who fought in the Cuba Independence Way (!895-1898). He ended the war as a major and the an officer in te Cuban Army (retire in 1934), Died in Yaguajay, Cuba in October 24, 1959. His wife was Sara Casanova González; they had 10 children; four of theem alive and living in Miami, Florida, U.S.A.

My maiden name is Maria Sansaricq, daugther of Eduardo Sansaricq from Cuba. I was told my grandfather was Eduardo Sansaricq the major you speak of who liberated Yaguajay in Cuba but his wife, my grandmother was Barbara. I was told he died. After doing some research there is a missing link here. I would like to get to the bottom of this. My impression is that my grandfather probably divorced my grandmother and had another family. Since divorce was really not acceptable, information has been buried.

My grandparents had three sons; Eduardo, Jose and Agusto and two daughers; Pilar and Angela.
I hope you write back.

Just received some information from one of my cousins. Eduardo Martin Sansaricq was my grandfather's cousin. My grandfather's name was Eduardo Sansaricq Gonzalez. He had the children I told you in my previous email.
