I believe Anthony Goetsch may have sponsored my German-speaking Catholic ancestor when he emigrated from Elsass to Illinois in 1846. Having failed finding where my blacksmith ancestor lived in Elsass, I’m going to start searching passenger lists to see if I can find Goetsch but would like to be sure to include all variations of this name.
