Thank you for your message about the Gersts in Pfaffenhoffen. Pardon my late reply. I am having some computer problems and can't always get on line.
My gggg grandparents were:
Leonard Gerst died 7 Jan 1830 and is buried in
Pfaffenhoffen. I don't know where he is buried.
Anna Marie Arnold died 28 Nov 1828 also buried in
I have found three of their children as follows:
Christian Gerst who was born 12 Mar 1798 in FRA
Catherine Barbe born 30 Aug 1802 in Paffenhoffen, FRA
George Gerst born in 1809 in FRA
All three children emmigrated to Allegheny City, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. Allegheny City is now the northside of Pittsburgh.
Catherine Barbe, my ggg grandmother, married George Philippe Lang in Strasbourg, FRA on 23 Aug 1831. They emmigrated to the US about 1851. Barbara'a brother, Christian, is listed as living in Schiltigheim, FRA and a baker on their marriage certificate.
George Gerst, Barbara's other brother, is listed as Col. George Gerst on her obituary, but I don't know if he was in the military in France or the US. He was a prosperous beer maker in Allegheny City, PA
George Philippe Lang was born in Strasbourg, FRA 30 June 1833. His father, George Philippe Lang, was born in 1769 and died in Beerfelden, GER in 1831. His mother was Anna Marguerite Immer. She was born in 1766 in Sandbach, GER and died in 1827 in Beerfelden, GER.
If you know of someone I can contact in Pfaffenhoffen I would appreciate your help. I am especially interested in finding the burial place in Pfaffenhoffen of my gggg grandparents, Leonard and Anna Marie Arnold Gerst. I hope some day I will be able to travel to Pfaffenhoffen. I was in the Alsace in 1988, but did not know at that time I had roots in Pfaffenhoffen. We had a wonderful day in beautiful Colmar and enjoyed the museum.
At this time I have no DUCHMANN or DIEMER's in my genealogy. Good luck with your research on your family.
